COLBY, Kan. (July 18, 2025) – The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds closed out Friday’s program with a 15-lap feature event that began with Danny Keller and John Fabrizius on the front row. Fabrizius paced the field early and led the opening circuit, but ‘90s standout Mike Bainter stormed to the point on lap two, leading for the first time since his return to racing last season.

Eddie Belec and Dakota Sproul wasted no time charging to the front, taking control by lap three. Belec held firm out front the rest of the way, even as lapped traffic allowed Sproul to close the gap late in the race. Belec stayed smooth to notch his second Jet Racing Central Region win of the season—both coming at Thomas County Speedway. Sproul settled for second, followed by Dylan Sherfick in third.

Porter Keeps Pressure on in Sport Compacts

The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts battled it out for 12 laps, with Nathan Vollbracht and Grant Logue leading the field to green. It didn’t take long for Gage Porter and Brock Leibhart to race their way into the top two positions, while Kaishen Brack followed closely behind.

Porter held off constant pressure from both Leibhart and Brack, maintaining the lead throughout a fast-paced main event. He’d cross the line first to earn his fifth win of the season. Leibhart finished second with Brack rounding out the podium in third.

Yutterman Tames Stock Car Field

Twenty laps were on tap for the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, with Jeff Tubbs and Wheat Lippelman pacing the field at the start. Tubbs powered out to an early lead and hugged the bottom groove to control the first half of the race.

The turning point came on lap thirteen when Tubbs and Johnny Yutterman went door-to-door, with Yutterman inching ahead to claim the top spot. Just a lap later, caution flew as Kolby Stegman spun Kyle Pfeifer. Pfeifer regained his position, while Stegman was sent to the rear.

On the restart, Yutterman pulled away and never looked back. He captured his second EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the season—both in Kansas, one at Hays and now one in Colby. Quinton Yutterman ran second, with Tubbs settling for third.

Barnhart Grabs Another Hometown Win

Carson Lang started from the front row alongside Brady Bencken for the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod main. But it was Josh Barnhart who wasted no time getting to the front, powering into the lead down the backstretch on lap one.

A fierce three-wide battle unfolded behind him between Bencken, Lang, and Blaine Walt for second. A lap four caution for Donovan Ohlrogge bunched the field back up, but Barnhart launched away on the restart.

Ryan Kirchoff made a strong move to take over second and began to match Barnhart’s pace, but the hometown hero stayed locked in through lapped traffic to seal the win—his fifth of the season, and fourth at Colby. Kirchoff was runner-up, Lang was third.

Olmstead Stays Consistent in Hobby Stocks

Justin Yutterman and rookie Cash Tubbs led the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock field to green for their 20-lap feature. Yutterman jumped ahead early and held the lead through an early caution for Jake Eicher.

On the restart, Yutterman held strong with Austin Janousek and Tubbs in tow. Meanwhile, Dylan Bell, Bingston Rogers, and Zach Olmstead were making their way forward. A second caution came after Rogers spun, leading to another restart.

Olmstead made his move on lap seven and passed Yutterman for the lead. From there, he stayed steady despite close racing for the positions behind him. The win marked Olmstead’s 18th of the season in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. Yutterman finished second, and Bell made a late charge to finish third.
