By Ben Deatherage VINTON, Iowa (Oct. 9, 2025) — The 2025 Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing season was one for the record books, filled with razor-thin finishes, breakout performances, and enduring dynasties. Six of the nine National titles were decided by three points or fewer, two required tiebreakers, and six drivers celebrated first-time championships. Portland, Michigan’s Jeff Reay earned his first National championship — and became the first Michigan driver since Rick Stout in 1995 to claim the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified crown — by just two points. He also won the DeVilbiss Racing Chassis Eastern Region, the Michigan State Championship, and track titles at Crystal Motor Speedway, where he’s now a two-time champion, and at I-96 Speedway, where he earned his first. By Sheldon Wickwar HAYS, Kan. (Oct. 4, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars stole the show at the 19th Annual Fall Nationals at RPM Speedway with a classic Hays slugfest. Angel Munoz grabbed the early lead from the pole before Jeff Ware and Tathan Burkhart traded furious slide jobs for second. A caution bunched the field and turned the track into three-wide chaos. Burkhart powered to the high side and never flinched, taking command with eighteen laps remaining. A multi-car incident on the ensuing restart reshuffled the field, but Burkhart held strong on the final green to secure back-to-back Fall Nationals crowns. By Kaden Crebs MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Oct. 7, 2025) — October brings farmers to the field and race teams to America’s Bucket List Track for the final event of the 2025 season, the Fast Shafts Harvest Hustle on the High Banks at Marshalltown Speedway. Last year’s edition drew 239 race teams from 15 states, and another huge field is expected this year as more than $85,000 in purse money will be up for grabs for Speedway Motors IMCA competitors. The three-day event runs October 23–25 and features Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks, Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites, and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. By Ben Deatherage PRICE, Utah (Sept. 27, 2025) — The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds closed out the Castle County Clash at Desert Thunder Raceway with a barnburner. Waylon Hale led the opening lap before a lap-two caution reset the field. On the restart, Kade Dimick — a two-time Utah State and Desert Thunder Raceway Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod champion — powered into the lead. Dimick controlled the race through another caution on lap seven, setting the pace as Hale kept close. With only a handful of laps left, the leaders entered lapped traffic, and Hale slipped underneath to challenge. Just as the duel heated up, Braxton Yeager joined the mix. Running the high line to perfection, Yeager beat both Dimick and Hale back to the stripe for the dramatic win. The real battle was for second as Keenan Glasser, Troy Speten and Nathan Speten fought it out. A series of mid-race cautions regrouped the field, with Nathan Speten slipping past Glasser for second. Glasser rallied, however, and retook the spot with six laps remaining. After coming up short the past two years, Pavlicek finally broke through and parked in Dacotah Speedway victory lane. Engines, chassis, and more went across the block, adding to the excitement of championship night and boosting the haul for two of the week’s biggest winners. For two of those champions, the night got even bigger. Tim Ward’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified victory was worth $17,000 with his $10,000 winner’s purse and a Harris Modified chassis that sold for $7,000. Jake McBirnie’s Sunoco IMCA Stock Car championship totaled $26,600 thanks to his $7,500 payday plus Terminator and B&B Racing chassis that brought $10,200 and $8,900. (Sept. 27, 2025) — Lee Goos Jr. had a clean sweep in the 45th anniversary Sprint Car race at Arlington Raceway, winning the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Cars feature on Saturday night. Starting on the pole, he never looked back over the 25-lap distance to capture the $4,500 prize. A first-lap caution for Nate Thelen’s spin brought a quick restart. Zach Glaser passed Gunner Pike to run second until lapped traffic opened the door for Bill Johnson to take the spot, with Trevor Serbus in close pursuit. The top three sliced through traffic until lap 18, when Glaser spun off turn four and exited the race. Goos maintained command on the restart, with Serbus in second and Johnson in third. The featured class was the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, competing for a $3,000 top prize. That prize went home with Cody Laney. Starting from the pole, Laney was pressured early by Tony VonDresky and Zane DeVilbiss, then fended off a late challenge from Tim Ward. Laney led all 38 laps to take the win. DeVilbiss settled for second with Ward in third. Trevor Fitz charged from seventh to fourth in the final two laps, while Matt Werner came all the way from 20th to finish fifth. The annual event, promoted by Darkside Promotions’ Tim Current and Ryan Duhme, has grown into one of Eastern Iowa’s premier racing events. Wednesday, Oct. 1, will serve as kickoff night with an open practice beginning at 6:30 p.m. Camping setup will be allowed throughout the day and a post-practice party will follow the on-track activity. The victory came during the facility’s 100th anniversary season and marked the first dirt race at the historic venue since the mid-1980s. Troy Cordes took command early while Jerry Dedrick and Trent Wyssbrod battled for second. Shute climbed into fourth behind Ethan Krall and soon began working the top line as lapped traffic slowed Cordes. Werner led nearly every lap of the race, mostly using the high side of the racetrack. Denny Eckrich was able to squeeze into the lead on lap 13, but Werner retook the top spot the following lap. Jonathon Schroeder’s car caught fire down the backstretch, ending his run early after the same issue plagued him in his heat. Once the smoke cleared, Mac Tollefson led the opening laps before Cory Probst charged from eighth to the front. Tollefson’s night unraveled with mechanical woes, and the battle for second fell to Brad Becker and Jordan Robinson. Robinson made the late move to secure runner-up honors behind Probst.
