By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (Apr. 25, 2025) — Logan Veloz scored his first ever Sunoco IMCA Late Model feature win. The 21-year-old Colona, Illinois driver took the lead of the race on lap 3 and never looked back. Veloz becomes the third different Late Model feature winner at Davenport in as many races this season. Travis Denning started on the pole in the race and led the first two laps before finishing second. Evan Miller was third. The full field of Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds was sprinkled with some top-name talent.  Wisconsin’s Skyler Woods jumped out to the early lead in the 20-lap main. However, the race would be halted by a red flag on lap 5. An eight-car pile-up on the frontstretch blocked most of the track. All drivers involved were able to walk away from the incident. By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Apr. 26, 2025) — Fans at Maquoketa Speedway were treated to a heart-pounding finish in the 25-lap Sunoco IMCA Late Model main event. Travis Denning appeared poised to go back-to-back, but a thrilling final-turn scramble in traffic opened the door for Mitch Morris. As the leaders split a lapped car coming to the checkers, Morris shot low while Denning went high, with Logan Veloz charging right behind them. Morris edged ahead at the line for his first win of the 2025 campaign, with Veloz nipping Denning for the runner-up spot. Mohr Muscles to First Modified Win of the Year The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds was another hotly contested race with the final outcome not decided until the final turns of their 20-lap main event. Charlie Mohr raced Shane Paris for several laps before Mohr was able to secure the top spot. (Apr. 17, 2025) —  Jeff Ware picked up an exciting Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature win at Abe’s US 30 Speedway during the 2025 season opener, which marked the 39th year of racing at the Columbus speed plant. The Columbus native thrilled his hometown crowd with the victory, his first of the season in EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region competition. Dana Rasmussen started on the pin, but going into turn one, he was immediately under attack from Scott Smith and a host of others. By the halfway point, Smith had fallen back just a bit, but two new players had checked into the fight as ninth starting Austin Brauner and multi-time track champ Jeff Ware were now in the fray. By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (Apr. 18, 2025) —  Curtis Glover of Knoxville came away with the win in the Sunoco IMCA Late Model feature in exciting style. The 25-lap main event started with Mitch Morris jumping out to the early lead. On lap 16, a bobble by Morris would drop him back to third, behind Glover and Matt Ryan. The top three would finish in that order. It is Glover’s first victory at Davenport. Ryan had to settle for second after starting in the eighth position. Morris held on for third. Spencer Diercks dominated the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. Diercks started on the outside pole and led all 20 laps of the race that went caution free, his first triumph this year in the Razor Chassis North Central Region for the hometown pilot. By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Apr. 19, 2025) — An electrifying green-white-checkered finish capped what many deemed the race of the night at Maquoketa Speedway, as the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks thrilled fans with nonstop action across the smooth, wide ¼-mile. Clarence’s Dan Mohr stood tall when the dust settled, emerging from packs of cars running three- and four-wide lap after lap in a feature that came down to the wire. Kile Vohringer led the first thirteen circuits of the 15-lap main event, but under a late caution his left rear tire went flat, forcing him to the pit area. On the restart, Mohr emerged from a chaotic pack to lead the final two laps, edging out the field by half a car length. (Apr. 18, 2025) — Rob Parker will take over promotional duties at East Moline Speedway for the 2025 season, bringing fresh energy and a lifelong passion for the sport to the historic ¼-mile high-banked clay oval. “I’ve been around racing my whole life and in the East Moline area for the last few years,” said Parker. “When I learned the track was just going to sit, I thought, ‘I guess it’s my time.’ I’m very excited for the opportunity to do this for the racing community.” A first-time promoter, Parker has put together a full slate of Sunday night racing from May through August, featuring four Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing divisions: Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Sunoco IMCA Late Models, Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, and Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites. By Jeffery Struck DAVENPORT, Iowa (Apr. 11, 2025) – Despite a chill in the air, the Koehler Electric Season Opener at Davenport Speedway, provided a great night of racing. That was until you made it to the tech area. A number of drivers were guilty of infractions throughout the evening. Some even changed the outcome of races. Bryce Garnhart dominated the Sunoco IMCA Late Model feature. Bryce led all twenty-five laps and finished more than seven seconds ahead of the second-place car. Unfortunately, he came across the scales fifteen pounds light in post-race inspection. That handed the win to Andy Nezworski, who started in seventh. Matt Ryan finished second with pole sitter Jake Morris taking third. It was Nezworski’s first win of 2025. Kyle Montgomery picked up the win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main. The Council Bluffs racer took full advantage of a front row starting spot and looked composed throughout the feature. After grabbing the lead near the halfway point, Getzschman held off a charging field of veterans to score his first-ever IMCA Late Model victory. Brett Hopp made a last-lap bid but had to settle for second, while Nebraskan Kale Kosiski rounded out the podium in third.
