Raceway Park postpones Double Down Spring Nationals

imca_fi_weeklyJEFFERSON, S.D. (April 7) – Raceway Park has postponed its season-opening Double Down Spring Nationals to Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19.

Originally scheduled for this weekend, the WinnaVegas Casino Resort-sponsored special boasts a $1,000 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying feature for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and $500 to win features for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Com­pacts all chase $500 top checks on Friday.

Hobbies, SportMods and Sport Compacts also run for $500 to win on Saturday. Drivers in any of those three divi­sions who can win both nights earn another $500.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, re­gional and Allstar Performance state, but no local track points will be awarded both nights of the draw/redraw spe­cial.

No changes have been made in the original race day schedules: Pit gates and the grandstand at Jefferson open at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Hot laps precede the 7 p.m. drivers’ meeting and racing starts at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, gates and the grandstand open at 4:30 p.m., hot laps precede the 6 p.m. drivers’ meeting and rac­ing gets underway at 6:30 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and free for kids 10 and under. Pit passes are $25. Entry fee is $50 for Modifieds and $40 for Stock Cars. Hobby Stocks and SportMods are $40 for one night or $65 for both nights; Sport Compacts are $30 for one night or $45 for both.

No checks will be accepted at the track without prior ap­proval; NitroBees or RACEceivers are required in all divi­sions. Free camping is available, without hookups, at the track.

Nearly five inches of snow fell at the speedway late last week, necessitating the rescheduling of Double Down Spring Nationals.
