Two-Night Rage 40 Weekend Returns to Fayette County Speedway Aug. 21-22

WEST UNION, Iowa (July 23, 2026) — One of northeast Iowa’s premier summer specials returns bigger than ever as the sixth annual Rage 40 expands into a two-night weekend for the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds at Fayette County Speedway on Aug. 21-22.

The action begins Friday night with a $1,000-to-win feature before Saturday’s signature Rage 40 pays $2,000 to win for the 40-lap finale. Both nights are Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational qualifying events, with each winner earning eligibility to attempt to qualify for the 2026 Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational, to be held during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

In addition to the lucrative purses, Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing National, Razor Chassis North Central Region and Iowa State points will be awarded each night.

Presented by West Union-based Rage Chassis, the annual event has become one of the marquee Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified specials in the Razor Chassis North Central Region, annually attracting many of the Midwest’s top competitors.

As part of the weekend festivities, racers and fans are welcome to stop by Rage Chassis during the weekend to visit with the team and check out IMCA Modified and IMCA Northern SportMod chassis at their West Union shop.

The Rage 40 has produced an impressive list of champions since its inaugural running in 2021. Joel Rust won the inaugural event, Jeff Aikey followed in 2022, and Cody Laney earned top honors in 2023. Ethan Braaksma has dominated the last two editions of the Rage 40 and returns in pursuit of an unprecedented third straight victory.

IMCA Modifieds return to Fayette County Speedway for Rage Chassis 40

WEST UNION, Iowa – IMCA Modifieds are all the rage again at Fayette County Speedway on July 21. Next Wednesday’s Rage Chassis 40 main event is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier and pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Side Biter Chassis North Central Region and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded at the draw/redraw show, to be held on the second night of the county fair and in West Union, the home town of Rage Chassis. “I work closely with the fair board and this is something we’ve wanted to do for a number of years. Rain delays but can’t stop Cooney in Fayette County Deery Series quest

WEST UNION, Iowa (July 25) – Todd Cooney had his car loaded up and ready to go home, thinking the rain that delayed Wednesday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series program at Fayette County Speedway would ultimately lead to its cancellation. But the rain went away, the speedway crew got the oval back in prime shape and Cooney ultimately ended up going home with the IMCA Late Model tour victory and $2,000. After running everywhere from third to seventh, Cooney passed Justin Kay and leader Chad Holladay on the 31st of 40 circuits. He beat Kay to the checkers by about a car length for his career eighth Deery win. “We’d kind of been all over the place but I was able to get up to third before that last restart, get a run on the back stretch and get the lead,” said Cooney, who used the higher line to do so. “Any time you can beat Justin it’s a big thing and Chad has been running well, too. Aikey gets job done in IMCA Modified feature at Fayette County Speedway Rage Chassis 40

By Zakary Kriener WEST UNION, Iowa (July 20, 2022) – The Rage Chassis 40 did not disappoint Tuesday night as Fayette County Speedway hosted the $2,000 to win fair special for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. At the end of the 40-lap feature race, it was legend Jeff Aikey who parked his no. 77 hot rod in victory lane. Aikey wasted little time finding his way to the front after starting third on the grid. After a few cautions in the opening laps, Aikey got past early leader Chris Snyder and was able to maintain a good distance over eventual runner-up and defending IMCA national champion Jeff Larson throughout the rest of the caution-free race. “I started my racing career right here 42 years ago,” said an ecstatic Aikey in his post-race interview. “I may be 60 years old, but giving up racing is not something that I have in my future plans.” Aikey was already eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. $10,000-To-Win Captain of the Creek Returns to 141 Speedway Aug. 14-15

(July 23, 2026) — One of the richest Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod events of the season returns to 141 Speedway on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 14-15, as the eighth annual Captain of the Creek VIII takes center stage. Since its debut in 2019, the Captain of the Creek has become one of the Midwest’s premier IMCA SportMod specials. Matt Avila enters this year’s event looking to become the first three-time winner after capturing back-to-back titles in 2024 and 2025. Midstate Machine Championship Engines Return for 44th IMCA Super Nationals

By Ben Deatherage VINTON, Iowa (July 23, 2026) — One of the most anticipated traditions of America’s Racin’ Vacation returns this September as Midstate Machine will once again provide four brand-new championship engines for the winners of Saturday night’s Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified, Sunoco IMCA Stock Car, Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod, and Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock features at the 44th Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Built by Midstate Machine of Des Moines, Iowa, the engines are assembled using donated components from many of the racing industry’s premier manufacturers and will be presented to each of the four champions following Championship Saturday on Sept. 12 at Boone Speedway.
