$10,000-To-Win Captain of the Creek Returns to 141 Speedway Aug. 14-15

FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (July 23, 2026) — One of the richest Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod events of the season returns to 141 Speedway on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 14-15, as the eighth annual Captain of the Creek VIII takes center stage.

Since its debut in 2019, the Captain of the Creek has become one of the Midwest’s premier IMCA SportMod specials. Matt Avila enters this year’s event looking to become the first three-time winner after capturing back-to-back titles in 2024 and 2025. Previous champions include Brandon Schmitt, Kenny Richards, Cam Reimers, Jacob Zellner and Tyler Sobiesczyk.

The successful format introduced in recent years returns, highlighted by Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win championship feature. Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing National and Wisconsin State points will be awarded to competitors.

The opening night on Friday features heat races followed by split qualifying features, each limited to 24 starters. Heat race lineups will be determined by draw, with the top five finishers from each qualifier advancing directly to Saturday night’s championship feature.

Drivers who do not transfer into Saturday’s main event will still have an opportunity to cash in during Friday night’s 24-car Non-Qualifier feature, which pays $1,000 to win.

IMCA SportMod entry is $150 through Aug. 13 when completed through MyRacePass. Entries received at the track will be $200.

Karl Kustoms IMCA Modifieds, Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts will also be in action throughout the weekend.

IMCA Modifieds race for $1,500 to win on both nights. Both feature winners will earn eligibility to attempt to qualify for the 2026 Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational, held during the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

IMCA Stock Cars race for $1,000 to win each night, with both feature winners earning guaranteed starting spots in the 2026 B&B Racing Chassis All-Star Stock Car Invitational, also held during the IMCA Super Nationals. IMCA Sport Compacts compete for $300 to win each night.

Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing National, regional and Wisconsin State points will be awarded in all IMCA divisions. IMCA Modifieds compete for Razor Chassis North Central Region points, while IMCA Stock Cars race for EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region points.

The weekend gets underway Thursday, Aug. 13, with an open Test and Tune for the IMCA divisions. Racing in other divisions will also be featured during the evening’s program. Grandstand admission is $10. Pit passes are $35.

Pit gates and grandstands open at 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with hot laps and racing scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. each evening. Pit passes are $40. Adult grandstand admission is $22, seniors ages 65 and older are $20, and children ages 10 and under are admitted free.

Camping is available throughout the weekend for $60. Reservations can be made through MyRacePass or by contacting 141 Speedway.

Czarneski stars at 141 Car Wars finale

(Oct. 11, 2024) – 2024 track champion Cole Czarneski stormed past Shawn Kilgore on a lap nine restart into the lead and cruised to victory in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at 141 Speedway’s Car Wars curtain closer. The victory was worth $2,000 and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility for the second-generation ace. Kilgore swapped the lead with fellow front row starter Cody Apfelbeck for the first several circuits. While that scrum was going on up front, Czarneski, who started 10th on the grid, quickly threaded his way through traffic, jumping into the third spot on lap four. Czarneski quickly closed in on the lead duo and a three car duel quickly evolved for the lead.  Czarneski worked the high line inches from the concrete retaining wall and the lead trio began weaving through lapped cars by lap eight.
