MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main event at Marshalltown Speedway was the showstopper of the night, going 20 hard-fought laps. Ethan Atcheson and Dillon Solum brought the field to green, with Solum pacing the opening lap before a quick caution with 19 to go. Solum, Brayton Carter, and Dallon Murty staged an early three-way fight for the top spot until another yellow at lap 16 bunched them again.
Carter pounced on the restart, taking the lead with 15 to go, but Murty stayed in striking distance. After a final caution with five laps left, Murty and Carter pulled away from the pack, with David Brandiss and Jimmy Gustin joining the scrap in the closing laps. Murty outdueled Carter at the stripe to back up his win from the previous week — his sixth Stock Car victory of 2025, two of them at Marshalltown and five in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region. Carter, Brandiss, Gustin, and Solum completed the top five.
Berry Jr. Bests Murty in Modified Nail-Biter
The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified nightcap went 20 laps and featured plenty of drama up front. Gat Leytham and David Brown paced the field to green, with Brown leading the opening lap before Zane DeVilbiss took over with 17 to go. Tom Berry Jr. moved into the top spot one lap later, and from there he and DeVilbiss traded fast laps while pulling clear of the field.
With four to go, Dallon Murty ran down Berry Jr. and challenged hard in the closing circuits. Berry Jr. kept the point to secure his fourth Modified win of the season — three in the Razor Chassis North Central Region and two at Marshalltown. Murty and DeVilbiss made up the rest of the podium.
Carter Powers to Eighth Marshalltown SportMod Victory
The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod 16-lap feature saw Josalyn Elmquist and Ryan King lead the 18-car field to the start. King was the early leader before Brayton Carter wasted no time slicing through traffic, reaching fourth after just one lap. A caution for Kyle Olson with 12 to go tightened the pack, and two laps later Carter slipped by King for the lead.
Another yellow with five to go for Chris Webb gave the challengers one last shot, but Carter nailed the restart to secure his eighth Marshalltown win of 2025 — part of an impressive 25-win season in the division. Jenae Gustin and Luke Bird followed in second and third.
Masengarb Breaks Through in Mod Lite Action
The Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite 15-lap feature had Steve Hartley and Charlie Brown on the front row. Brown led the first eight circuits before Jason Masengarb grabbed the lead with seven laps to go. Bryan Zhem closed quickly and made a late bid, but Masengarb held him off for his third win of the year, each at a different track. Zhem and Brown were second and third.
Gifford Denies Wroten in Hobby Stocks
The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock field rolled off 24 strong for 16 laps with Braelynn Long and Chad Rickett Jr. on the front row. Leah Wroten took command early and led the first 11 laps before a caution for debris bunched the pack with five to go. On the restart, Braydon Gifford muscled past with three remaining and held off Wroten to capture his first Marshalltown win of 2025 and second victory this year in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. Wroten and Briar Kriegal rounded out the top three.
Masterson Leads Every Lap in Sport Compacts
The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact 15-lapper wrapped up the program with Kadin Gosselink and Curtis Masterson sharing the front row. Masterson jumped out early and never looked back, leading all the way for his first Marshalltown win of the season. Christian Grady and Michael Gardner completed the podium.
