MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Aug. 9, 2025) — Infrequent visitor Matt Ryan dominated the 25-lap Season Championship feature at Maquoketa Speedway for the Sunoco IMCA Late Models. Starting inside the second row, Ryan quickly powered to the front and led the remainder of the race, taking the win ahead of seventh-starting Logan Veloz.
The points battle came into the night with Jake Morris holding a slim two-point lead over Steve Johnson. When the checkers waved, Morris finished one spot behind Johnson — enough to claim the IMCA Late Model track championship by a single point. Ryan’s victory was his third of the season, each coming at a different track.
Diercks Delivers in Modifieds
The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds Season race came down to a head-to-head battle between Spencer Diercks and Charlie Mohr. Both drivers ran the high side with precision, but a slight bobble by Mohr opened the door for Diercks to take the lead and drive away to victory. Mohr held second ahead of Justin Veloz.
Despite a sixth-place finish, Jaden Fryer had built enough of a cushion to clinch the 2025 IMCA Modified track championship. For Diercks, the win was his 11th of the season in the Razor Chassis North Central Region and first at Maquoketa this year.
Miles Powers to Stock Car Feature Win
The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars featured plenty of late-season excitement as the division’s point leader was absent due to a prior commitment. That opened the door for challengers, and Kodey Miles made the most of it, charging from 10th to the lead by lap 10. Miles went on to win ahead of Greg Gill, and in doing so, edged Andrew Burk for the 2025 IMCA Stock Car track championship by a single point. The victory was Miles’ fifth of the season in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and first at Maquoketa in 2025.
Franzen Seals SportMod Title with Authority
The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods saw little championship drama as all Jarett Franzen needed to do was take the green flag to secure the track title. He didn’t just coast — he charged from a fifth-row starting spot to earn his 11th win of the season, five of those coming at Maquoketa. Franzen reached the front quickly and pulled away for the victory over Justin Veloz, with Ryan Reed finishing third.
Butt Makes History in Hobby Stocks
History was made in the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks when 14-year-old Carson Butt captured his first career win at his home track. Butt, who also has a rookie-season win elsewhere in 2025, traded the lead with Karter Miles lap after lap before finally securing the top spot for good on the white flag lap. With a 10th-place finish, Jordan Miles secured the Hobby Stock track championship by one point over Daniel Wauters. Butt’s triumph was his second win in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region this year, with victories coming at two different tracks.
The event was broadcast live on IMCA TV affiliate Done Right TV. Catch every lap again with the IMCA TV Replay Subscription, available for just $24.99/month. And don’t miss Season 2 of the Boone Docuseries, now streaming exclusively on IMCA TV.
