Murty Masters Late Restart to Win Stock Car Showdown at Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (Aug. 2, 2025) — Damon Murty held off a determined field in the closing laps to win the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature as Independence Motor Speedway celebrated its 60th anniversary on Saturday. Riley Hanson moved into second early, while Tom Schmitt and Hannah Chesmore battled for third as the race settled in. A late caution bunched the field, Murty had both Schmitt and Chesmore on his bumper.

Murty powered through the restart to secure his second win of the season and first in EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region action. Schmitt kept him honest and crossed the line in second, while Chesmore wrapped up a strong run in third.

Carter Cruises in Dominant SportMod Performance

Brayton Carter made quick work of the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod main event, jumping out front at the drop of the green and never relinquishing the lead. It marked his 24th win of the 2025 season and first at Independence in the current campaign.

Will Wolf moved into second early, with Brett Thomas and Brady Hilmer racing just behind. Thomas slipped past Wolf near the midway point and began cutting into Carter’s advantage, but despite a pair of late cautions, Carter stayed in control. Thomas settled for second after a solid effort, with Wolf third at the finish.

Cordes Continues Indee Hot Streak in IMCA Modifieds

Troy Cordes added another Independence trophy to his collection, working the bottom groove to perfection and capturing the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature win. It was his third Razor Chassis North Central Region victory of the year and second straight at Indee.

Luke Silber led the early circuits until Cordes reeled him in and made the pass. Jeff Aikey moved into the mix late as the leaders caught lapped traffic. Cordes held steady for the win, while Aikey came home second and Silber rounded out the top three after a strong early showing.

Fisher Fends Off Graham in Hobby Stock Thriller

Joren Fisher claimed his third win of the year at Independence and fifth overall in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region, holding off a late push from Bradly Graham in the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks.

Fisher took the lead early and set a strong pace as Zach McNeese ran second. Graham powered into third at halfway and began challenging McNeese before moving into second. He worked both grooves trying to unseat Fisher but came up just short at the line. McNeese held on for third to complete the podium.

Roggentien Rockets to First Indee Win in Sport Compacts

Spencer Roggentien used his pole starting spot to dominate the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature, picking up his fifth win of the season and first at Independence.

Chris Pittman gave chase and solidified second, while the battle for third featured Christopher and Tyler Mannion along with others. Christopher Mannion emerged with the final podium spot after a late charge.
