Tyson Blood Gets 3rd Grays Harbor Modified Win of the Season

Elma, Wash. (July 27, 2025) — Four-time Washington State IMCA Champion and four-time Grays Harbor Track Champion Tyson Blood kept the momentum rolling with his third win of the season at Grays Harbor Raceway and fifth overall in the 2025 Shaw Race Cars Western Region for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds.

Jake Sorenson led the early laps, fending off multiple challenges from Brenton Schnitzer. On lap nine, the battle for the lead reached a fever pitch as Blood made it three-wide on the front stretch. Entering turn one, Schnitzer got loose trying to avoid contact with Sorenson, clipped Blood, bounced off an infield tire, and came to a stop—bringing out the race’s only caution.

On the restart, Blood powered to the outside and drove around Sorenson to take the lead for good. He never looked back and cruised to victory. Sorenson held on for second, while Jeff Westergard charged forward from 10th to round out the podium in third.

Moore Picks Up Second Win of the Year at Grays Harbor

(Jun. 15, 2025) — Brian Izzi got the jump on the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified field at Grays Harbor Raceway from his outside front row starting spot and led the early laps of the main event. On lap three, contact occurred in a battle for seventh, eighth, and ninth between Jason Tole, Tyson Blood, and Riley Scherer. Scherer and Blood got together, sending Blood spinning to a stop and ending his night early. Austin Rognlin took over the lead on the restart, with Craig Moore sliding into third and then passing Izzi for second a lap later. Rognlin built a healthy lead through lap 10, but Moore slowly began to reel him in as the leaders encountered lapped traffic. Moore capitalized and made the pass for the lead on lap 21. A late restart gave Rognlin one last chance, but the veteran Moore held on to score his second win of the year at GHR and in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region. Williamson is captain of IMCA Shipwreck Beads Nationals

By Aaron Reed ELMA, Wash. (July 15, 2023) – Jesse Williamson made another trip to victory lane at Grays Harbor Raceway Saturday night, this one worth $7,500. One night after topping the race of champions at Elma, Williamson outran and outlasted the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified field at Grays Harbor Raceway, topping the 24th annual Shipwreck Beads Nationals main event ahead of 2022 race winner Collen Winebarger. The Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational eligibility qualifying victory was Williamson’s fifth. Grey Ferrando, Geoff Morris and Robert Jenner rounded out the top five. A who’s who of Modified drivers from the Pacific Northwest and Canada vied for starting spots on the 24-car grid and Bricen James took the early lead with Jon DeBenedetti in second and Williamson third. Lap two saw a multi-car incident on the front stretch and Williamson moved to second following the restart ahead of DeBenedetti, Winebarger and Ferrando. Wild West Modified Shootout returns, IMCA.TV to broadcast Aug. 6-14 series

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. – After not being on the schedule in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout is back. Eight races will be run in nights at four race tracks in the Pacific Northwest. Not only will IMCA Modifieds be in attendance but the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern Sport Mods will accompany the tour in the first seven legs. Modified feature winners earn $1,000 and become eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Lebanon’s Willamette Speedway will kick the whole party off on Friday, Aug. 6 and the tour will remain there for three straight nights. Monday, Aug. 9, and Tuesday, Aug. 10 will be reserved for Cottage Grove Speedway. Thornton Keeps Back Hibdon at Boone for First Salute to Vets Modified Win

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (July 26, 2025) — Dylan Thornton outdueled Kollin Hibdon in the late stages of a thrilling Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Boone Speedway, earning his first career win on the Hunting with Heroes Salute to Veterans Tour powered by Performance Bodies & Parts. The reigning Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s champion in both the Modified and Late Model divisions, originally from California and now living in Belle Plaine, Iowa, scored his fourth overall win of 2025 in the Modifieds and second in the Razor Chassis North Central Region — both at Boone. Suckow Scores First Stock Car Victory at Independence

By Christine Rublack INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (July 26, 2025) — Cole Suckow raced to his first-ever victory in a Sunoco IMCA Stock Car Saturday night at Independence Motor Speedway, taking charge early and never looking back. Riley Hanson and Brett Vanous waged a fierce battle for second with Tom Schmitt in close pursuit. As Hanson and Vanous ran side-by-side, Suckow extended his advantage and cruised to the checkers. Hanson and Vanous completed the podium. Cordes Captures Modified Glory In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Mike Burbridge led most of the way but it was Troy Cordes who scored the win in the closing laps.
