ALGONA, Iowa (Jul. 3, 2025) — Le Center, Minnesota’s Mick Rykhus had long set his sights on the Bumble Bee Nationals. On Thursday night at Kossuth County Speedway, he finally got to celebrate in victory lane with a commanding performance that earned him $1,000 and his first win of the 2025 campaign.
Levi Volkert and Charles Prime led the 18-car Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact field to green, with all drivers guaranteed at least $100 to start. Volkert paced the opening circuits until Tyler Thompson took over on lap three, just before a yellow flag slowed the field on lap five.
At halfway, Thompson led with Volkert and Rykhus in pursuit. Rykhus surged to the front with seven laps to go and never looked back, holding off Thompson for the lucrative win. Volkert rounded out the podium.
Sidles Storms to Second Hobby Stock Win at Algona
The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks delivered a thrilling finish with Josh Sidles making a late-race move to earn his second win of the season at Kossuth County and his second overall in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region.
After an early caution and restart, Trevor Iverson led the initial laps before Cody Hubbell moved to the front on lap five. Hubbell maintained control through a lap-10 caution and appeared to be in command until Sidles found speed in the closing circuits, making the decisive pass with three laps to go.
Joel Magee finished second while Hubbell held on for third.
Shryock Shakes Off Cautions for 10th Northern Region Stock Car Win
Kelly Shryock was dominant in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature, shaking off a flurry of cautions to earn his fourth win at Kossuth County Speedway this season—and 10th overall in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region in 2025.
Loren Pesicka Jr. led early before a caution on lap two handed the advantage to Zayn Feaster. A restart on lap five saw Shryock capitalize and quickly pull away from the field. Despite three more caution flags, the veteran driver never wavered, eventually winning by a straightaway.
Dan Mackenthun finished second after advancing eight positions to earn hard charger honors. Pesicka Jr. was third.
Fett Powers to First Algona Win in SportMods
The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods saw Alec Fett collect his first win of the season at Kossuth County—and second overall in 2025—with a strong second-half performance.
Mat Hollerich led the early laps as part of a three-car breakaway with Fett and Charlie Stevens. A lap-12 caution erased Hollerich’s lead and opened the door for Fett, who took control on the restart and held firm to the checkers.
Hollerich finished second with Stevens in third.
Heckman Leads All 15 For Modified Win
Kyle Heckman started on the pole and never gave up the lead in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event, securing his first Razor Chassis North Central Region win of the 2025 season.
The feature went caution-free, allowing Heckman to set the pace throughout. Kelly Shryock added a runner-up finish to his night after edging Cody Knecht in a close battle for second.
