Harris Clash Returns to Boone Speedway for 34th Running on June 24

By Ben Deatherage

BOONE, Iowa (May 27, 2025) — A tradition unlike any other in IMCA racing makes its long-awaited return to Boone Speedway as the 34th annual Harris Clash presented by Wehr’s Machine & Racing Products is set for Tuesday, June 24. This marks the first time the event has been held at Boone since 1994 and its first appearance in Iowa since 2017.

The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods will once again headline the single-day showcase, with the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars making their much-anticipated debut on the Clash card. The prestigious event holds the distinction of being IMCA’s longest-running single-day special, first contested in 1992.

“We’ve really put together a number of changes,” said event founder Bob Harris. “Deer Creek Speedway was an awesome facility, but we took a look at moving the event back to Central Iowa. Boone was the right fit. We were there in 1994 and, as everyone knows, it puts on some pretty darn good racing and runs a fast show.”

One of the signature changes for 2025 is the race’s move to June—the first time it’s been run in that month.

“I wanted to get ahead of the heavy July and August schedule. August is busy for families—people are wrapping up vacations and getting ready for school,” Harris explained. “It just made more sense to get it in earlier this year.”

The Clash will follow a race format where winners and the driver with the most passing points in each heat also advance to feature as well as the redraw. The running order for the night will see Stock Cars compete first, followed by SportMods, then Modifieds.

Sponsorship support is robust for this year’s edition. BHE Enterprises serves as the presenting sponsor for the Modifieds, B&B Racing Chassis supports the Stock Cars, and Fast Shafts backs the SportMods. Heat race sponsorship includes Logue Fabrication for the Stock Cars, BHE Enterprises for Sport Mods, and Alliance Insurance for the Modifieds.

“We added Stock Cars this year, and part of the reason I chose Boone is because they’re used to running a lot of race cars in a short amount of time,” said Harris. “I didn’t want to do a two-day show—I like events where you get in, race, have fun, and head home to sleep in your own bed. And in Boone, we’ve got a tremendous number of racers and fans within an hour’s drive.”

The Harris Clash began in 1992, and over three decades has crowned some of the most recognizable names in IMCA history. Notably, the Harris Clash has seen relatively few repeat winners, a testament to the event’s depth of competition and ever-evolving talent pool.

Payout and contingency information is available at HarrisClash.com, where fans and drivers can also find additional event details. The Harris Clash Facebook page will also post timely updates as the event approaches. Fans unable to attend in person can catch every lap live on IMCA.TV, which will broadcast the entire evening’s action.
