Mod Lites of Arkansas, North Texas head to Louisiana for Caddo Parish Shakedown

VIVIAN, La. (Feb. 7, 2023) – The Mod Lites of Arkansas and North Texas Mod Lites come together for a two-day event at Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, La., Feb. 24-25.

The Caddo Parish Shakedown marks the first time two IMCA STARS Mod Lite series have co-sanctioned an event. The Friday winner earns $500 while Saturday’s winner takes home $1,000.

Drivers from Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, Tennessee and Iowa, among others, are expected to compete and will receive IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Mod Lites of Arkansas and North Texas Mod Lite series, and state points.

“I’ve just started as the promoter of the North Texas Mod Lites and am looking forward to working with the Mod Lites of Arkansas and helping build this division,” said John Thiel Jr. “My focus is to build relationships and have fun in the process.”

Mod Lites of Arkansas promoter Bryce Vowan noted the Caddo Parish Shakedown marked the first appearance for STARS Mod Lites at Vivian, now promoted by Kevin Rogers. 

“We have enjoyed working with other series in the past and building those relationships within the IMCA STARS Mod Lite division,” said Vowan. “We have previously worked with the Hoosier State Mod Lites and the new Tennessee Mod Lite Racing Association and are now excited for the opportunity to work with John and his group.”

Wilson gets confidence booster with Greenville Mod Lites of Arkansas win

GREENVILLE, Miss. (May 22) – Blake Wilson was fast from the opening lap and never looked back as he led every lap en route to his first Mod Lites of Arkansas feature win of 2021 at Greenville Speedway presented by Elite Glass. Wilson, from Mabelvale, Ark., started on the outside of the front row along with pole sitter James Rollins and work the high groove for the duration of the 20-lap IMCA STARS Mod Lite feature.  While Wilson was out front, Rollins was challenged late by Bryce Vowan until an engine failure knocked Vowan back to fourth coming to the checkered flag. Mod Lites of Arkansas headed to Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Ark. – Mod Lites of Arkansas return to Old No. 1 Speedway this Saturday for a $500 to win, minimum $100 to start main event. More than 30 IMCA STARS Mod Lite drivers from a five-state area are expected to compete in the June 19 show at Harrisburg. Entry fee is $15.  Pit gates open at 4 p.m. with pre-tech to follow. IMCA sanction strengthens Mod Lites of Arkansas

MARION, Ark. – The sky’s the limit this season for STARS Mod Lites of Arkansas. The club-run series will be IMCA sanctioned for the first time, with 15 race dates scheduled at home track I-30 Speedway and five other Arkansas and Mississippi venues. “We’re averaging about 24 cars a night and the class has been continually growing.
