The Bullring is back in business this Sunday

VINTON, Iowa – With both attempts at holding the Benton County Fair races washed out, the focus now shifts to Sunday, July 4 at Benton County Speedway. And it’s going to be big. As part of “A Celebration at The Bullring” on the Independence Day holiday, the speedway will host weekly racing in all five divisions, plus the Lil’ Racer Car Club benefit raffle. A giant fireworks display will close out the holiday program following the races. Weekly racing will feature KISS Country 96.5 IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Albert Auto Service, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks presented by Kwik Star, Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMods presented by Christie Door Company and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts presented by Auto Crafters. All weekly divisions will be draw/redraw and all applicable IMCA points, including local track points, will be awarded. There is no entry fee. VINTON, Iowa – Wednesday’s scheduled IMCA Frostbuster at Benton County Speedway has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 4.  Track officials made that announcement after determining they could not get the dirt oval at Vinton race-ready for the number of cars expected to compete on the original date.  Along with IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, Mach-1 Sport Compacts will be on the Sunday card.  Racing starts at 5 p.m. and there will be Easter eggs for the kids. More information about the Benton County Frostbuster is to be announced. Frostbuster Week starts tonight (Tuesday) at Stuart Speedway. IMCA Modifieds, Stocks, SportMods and Hobbies also run at Frostbusters Thursday, April 1 at Independence Motor Speedway; Friday, April 2 at Mar­shalltown Speedway; and Saturday, April 3 at Boone Speed­way. 

By Jerry Mackey   VINTON, Iowa (May 24) – With fans watching on big and small screens, Chris Simpson held off Cayden Carter in winning the IMCA Modified feature on opening night Sunday at Benton County Speedway. The headliner of the night was the 25-lap IMCA Modified feature, which provided great racing on the perfectly prepared track and a battle to the checkered flag. Simpson, driving a Doug Cue-owned car, started on the pole position, led the race early and appeared to have control of the race until fourth starting Carter began to reel him. Carter raced to the white flag on the rear bumper of Simpson and set up a side-by-side drag race down the back chute as the checkered flag was about to be waved. Simpson shot off the high side of turn four and held off Carter at the finish line taking the win by half a car length.
