JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Jamestown Speedway hosts an event half a century in the making, with IMCA Modifieds and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods on 50th annual Stock Car Stampede race programs Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24 and 25.
Modifieds race for $1,250 to win on Friday and $1,750 to win Saturday. Both races are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers and pay a minimum of $125 to start. Northern SportMod features pay $750 to win on Friday and $1,250 to win on Saturday.
Both shows are draw/redraw. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded and Modifieds earn Side Biter Chassis North Central Region points as well.
Weekend entry fee is $120 for Modifieds and $100 for SportMods. Pit passes are $40 for Saturday only or $70 for both days. Drivers who have not raced at Jamestown this year are asked to register ahead of time on MyRacePass.
Pit gates open at 10 a.m. on Friday. The grandstand opens at 3 p.m., cutoff for the draw is 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Gates open at noon, the grandstand opens at 2 p.m., cutoff for the draw is at 4 p.m. and racing is at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Friday spectator admission is $20 for adults, $10 for students ages 13-17 and free for 12 and under. Saturday adult admission is $25.
Campers will be allowed in starting Wednesday at noon. Fee is $25 per night. A number of electric hookups and a few water hookups are available but there is no RV sewer dump on the grounds.
The Stock Car Stampede unofficially kicks off Thursday, Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. with the Driver Calcutta Auction in the beer gardens building just south of the grandstands. Proceeds from the auction are split as follows: 10 percent will go into the prize fund for the drivers, 50 percent will go back to the winner’s bid in each class and 40 percent will go toward charities.
Event T-shirts and trophies will have 50-year anniversary designs and memorabilia from the Stampede’s first 49 years will be on display throughout the weekend.
Also in conjunction with the Stampede, Don Wilhelm Chevrolet Buick GMC sponsors a classic car show, to be held Saturday at the dealership location. A breakfast will also be served that morning at the beer gardens building.
