28th annual Tiny Lund Memorial this weekend at Shelby County Speedway

HARLAN, Iowa – Shelby County Speedway rolls out the red carpet for six IMCA divisions at the 28th annual Tiny Lund Memorial Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25 and 26.

Friday night action is in honor of the Dale Swanson Memorial and sees the IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Late Models racing for $755 to win, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods for $655 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $555 and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $155 to win. 

On Saturday, the Modifieds race for $1,528 to win their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Late Models race for $1,228 to win, Stock Cars and Northern SportMods both for $1,028 to win, Hobby Stocks for $828 to win and Sport Compacts for $328 to win.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and KMJ Performance State points will be awarded both nights.

Both programs are draw/redraw and drivers should pre-register online at racescs.com before Sept. 24; one-time entry fee for all divisions except the Sport Compact is $28 (early) or $40 (late).

Pit passes are $30 for adults and $15 for kids ages 15 and under. Reserved pit stalls are $25.

Gates open at 3:28 p.m. on Friday with hot laps and racing to follow the 6:28 pit meeting. 

On Saturday, gates open at 2:28 p.m. and hot laps and racing follow the 5:28 p.m. pit meeting.

Both race night programs will be broadcast by IMCA.TV.

Patience pays off for Hobscheidt with Swanson Memorial IMCA Modified win

HARLAN, Iowa (July 13) – He only led one lap, but it was the most important one. Jacob Hobscheidt caught Chaz Baca for the front spot on the 20th and final circuit Tuesday night, then took the checkers a quarter of a second ahead of the Arizona visitor to win the IMCA Modified feature at Shelby County Speedway’s Dale Swanson Memorial. The win, good for $2,500, was Hobscheidt’s third in as many starts at Harlan this season.  “I kept being patient,” said Hobscheidt, who needed just eight laps to race from the ninth starting spot to second. “I knew we needed to wait until the right time, and we did it.” Bub Lerette led the first lap from the pole before giving way to Brad Bergren.  The third and final caution of the contest waved on lap 12. Tiny Lund wins different kinds of IMCA firsts for Shryock, Van Horn

HARLAN, Iowa (Sept. 25-26) – Kelly Shryock’s Saturday IMCA Modified win was his first ever at Shelby County Speedway’s Tiny Lund Memorial. Dusty Van Horn’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win the same night was his first-ever in the division. Shryock, already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, started on the pole, then had to get the lead back from Jacob Hobscheidt before collecting the $1,528 checkers. “He’s “He’s pretty fast. IMCA Midwest Madness Tour returning for June 26-30 run

WORTHINGTON, Minn. (June 7, 2022) – Drivers in five IMCA divisions see action on five consecutive nights in the upcoming Midwest Madness Tour. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars both race for $1,000 top prizes Sunday, June 26 at Minnesota’s Worthington Speedway; and at Iowa venues Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer on Monday, June 27; Buena Vista Raceway in Alta on Tuesday, June 28; Shelby County Speedway in Harlan on Wednesday, June 29; and at Stuart Speedway on Thursday, June 30.
