Schmidt sweeps IMCA Modified action at Outagamie

SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 31) – Night six of the season saw 120-plus cars on action and Jamie Schmidt proved to be the fastest of the 41 IMCA Modifieds entered.

Mark Schuenemann shot to the lead of the Modified feature from the front row as Schmidt, Ja­son Czarapata and Benji LaCrosse gave chase. Schuenemann worked the outside groove with the competition hot on his heals running the same groove.

A caution with three laps remaining changed everything. As the race resumed, Schuenemann went to the bottom groove, which allowed Schmidt to slip by up top. Schmidt pulled away to score the win and a clean sweep to boot.

Lucas Lamberies made a late race charge to place second, Schuenemann was third, LaCrosse took fourth and Jason Czarapata completed the top five.

After a rough start, the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature resumed with Tim Paitrick pacing the field be­fore Eric Arneson stormed by for the top spot on lap five. Brandon Czarapata and Rod Snellen­berger were in hot pursuit until a flat tire sent Snellenberger pitside.

Meanwhile, Czarapata began applying heavy pressure to Arneson in the closing laps. In the end, Arneson held off a persistent Czarapata to score the win. Czarapata had to settle for second at the pay window. Larry Karcz Jr. had his best run of the season to place third and Logan Leary and Brett Wenzel rounded out the top five.

Brady Harshberger jumped to the lead on the first lap of the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature and never looked back, scoring his first-ever feature win and a clean sweep on the night. Trailing Harshberger to the checkers were Jake Carpenter, Elijah Koenig, Jeff Schmuhl and Aa­ron Butterbrodt.

Cody Booth was victorious in the Mach-1 Sport Compact main event.

Frederick is red hot at Outagamie Speedway  

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 4, 2023) – Kyle Frederick was on fire during Saturday’s IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at Outagamie Speedway, both literally and figuratively. Frederick raced around Larry Karcz on the fifth circuit and into the lead. As the race progressed, Frederick’s advantage began to shrink as Karcz and Brandon Czarapata chased. It became apparent why Frederick’s lead began to fade as his left rear brake rotor began to glow bright orange. Signifying a stuck brake. Frederick’s machine held on just long enough to take the checkers. Once he pulled in the tech area, the left rear burst into flames. Track officials quicky put out the fire. Czarapata was able to sneak by on the last lap to take second, Karcz had his best run of the year to place third and after starting 21st, Rod Snellenberger completed the top four.   Rookie Jeff Schmuhl grabbed the lead on lap three of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main and never looked back, cruising to his first win of the season. Czarapatas collect trophies at Outagamie

By Edward Anschutz  SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 3) – Team Czarapata took two IMCA feature wins Friday at Outagamie Speed­way. Mike Mullen raced to the lead on the second lap of the IMCA Modified feature and quickly pulled away from the field. Several cautions slowed his charge as Jason Czarapata and Brian Mullen gave chase. Cautions kept the pace slowed with the time limit ticking away. Mike Mullen once again pulled away on the restart but mechanical gremlins got the best of the no. 99 machine as his car came to a halt in turn two. Czarapata inherited the lead as the time limit expired on the race, handing him the win. Brian Mullen was second and Benji LaCrosse raced from row eight to place third. Rod Snellenberger took the lead on the seventh lap of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature only to have it swiped away a lap later by Brandon Czarapata. Czarapata was able to hold off a hard charging Jeremy Christians to score his first win of the season. Mroczkowski edges Van Straten for Outagamie checkers

(Aug. 21) – Josh Mroczkowski took the lead with five laps remaining and went on to win the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature by inches over Travis Van Straten at Outagamie Speedway Friday night. Tyler Wendt raced from the outside pole to the lead on the opening lap. Mroczkowski came to call just past the midway point to take the lead away from Wendt down low. The duo traded the lead over the next few laps with Mroczkowski racing back to the top spot on lap 15. Mroczkowski moved to the upper groove, which allowed Logan Leary and Van Straten to race three-wide under the leader. As the checkers flew it was a two-horse race of Van Straten and Mrocz­kowski racing to the finish line as the pair came across the stripe in a visual dead heat. Tran­sponder scoring gave the victory to Mroczkowski by a mere .049 seconds. Wendt had his best run of the year to place third.
