Tri-City announces 2019 blood drive partnership openings

AUBURN, Mich.– Tri-City Motor Speedway is partnering with area businesses and non-profit groups hosting blood drives with the American Red Cross or Michigan Blood to help increase do­nor participation during the summer months.

Tri-City officials are seeking local blood drives held during May, June or July throughout the surround­ing communities including, but not limited to Auburn, Bay City, Beaverton, Gladwin, Mid­land, Mt. Pleasant, Pinconning and Saginaw.  

Each participating blood drive will receive one adult grandstand race ticket valued at $14 to give out to all donors who attempt to give blood. Race tickets will be valid for any regular Friday night through Aug. 23, 2019. 

In addition to partnering with area blood drives, Tri-City will host a blood drive on June 7.

“We want to give back to our community. Blood banks are in desperate need of donations during the summer months. We want to use our means to help promote and support blood donation through­out our surrounding communities,” said Erika Puvalowski, TCMS Marketing and Business Development Director.

Pray prevails at Tri-City for first IMCA Modified win

(May 24) – Tanner Pray cruised to his first-ever Allstar Performance IMCA Modi­fied feature win on Outdoor Adventures Night at Tri-City Motor Speedway.  With other venues canceling earlier in the afternoon, the field was again bolstered with 29 drivers hoping to find their way to victory lane. Brody Bowser and Don Sautter battled during the first seven laps of the 20-lap feature. Sautter had the field covered until he lost power in turn four, ending his night with a premature exit and what proved to be a 19th place finish.  Former track champion Myron DeYoung inherited the lead. He had his hands full during the se­cond half of the race as Matt Szecsodi  and Pray pressured him through every corner. On lap 17, Pray used the high line coming out of turn two and cleared DeYoung for the lead.  From there, Pray motored to his first ever feature victory. Jones makes it three straight at Tri-City

(May 25) – Nate Jones took home his third straight Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modified feature win, in front of a packed house Friday night at Tri-City Motor Speedway. Jones battled through the field during the 20-lap main event from the eighth starting spot while A.J. Ward made his return to the Auburn track, methodically moving through the field and gaining 12 positions from his 14th place starting spot to finish second. Ward closed in on Jones with just a few laps to go but ran out of time before the checkered flag. Toby Steele came home in third place. With 27 cars on hand for the evening, the feature was set through the heat races and the ‘B’ main. Matt Szecsodi won the ‘B,’ then gained 12 positions in the feature to finish fourth. Craig Vance was fifth.

Johnson is tops at Tri-City

By Roger Williams AUBURN, Mich. (June 1) – Tri-City Motor Speedway’s Main Street Seed and Supply IMCA Modified divi­sion has been dominated as of late by rookie driver Nate Jones. He was looking for his fourth feature win in a row Friday night but had to start from row five in order to do so. Chris Cohoon overtook the front row on lap one and continued to lead the field until lap seven when defend­ing champion Kody Johnson took his turn at the front.  With few cautions, Johnson was able to keep the field behind him and was the first to finish the 20-lap feature. Jones fought his way up to second at the finish. Cohoon, Chad Wernette and Matt Szecsodi clawed their way into the top five.
