The Prelude marked the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car debut for Crystal, Mich., driver Rob Brillhart.
Brillhart bought the 2016 B & B Chassis out of Jackson, Minn., two weeks ago. The pro stock track champion this season at I-96 Speedway will put a check next to Super Nationals when Stock Car qualifying starts on Wednesday.
“This is a dream come true. What more could you do than come to Super Nationals?” he asked.
Learning on the fly, Brillhart was loose in Prelude hot laps, threw a street stock setup on his new ride and went to “oh boy” tight.
While he’s a rookie in the class, Brillhart already shares the same dream as all the veterans of America’s Racin’ Vacation.
“We’ve seen the lap times we wanted,” he said. “Being in the Saturday night field would be the ultimate.”
