ALGONA, Iowa (May 24) – Tad Reutzel, sporting a new design on his 5R rig, survived four yellow flags to lead the whole way and win Thursday’s IMCA Modified main event at Kossuth County Speedway.

Reutzel held off challenges late from Austin Wolf and Jay Noteboom to earn his first local feature win of the season.

Randy Brands dominated the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature, starting on the pole before running away and hiding from the rest of the field in a race that went green white checkered.

Kyle Sidles jump out fast in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature and led most of the race before Daniel Smith came on late to take the lead with one lap remaining and went onto his first victory of the year at Algona.

The Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature lead changed hands three times before Matt Looft took over for good following a lap eight restart.

A dozen Mach-1 Sport Compacts took the green flag in a feature that ran caution-free. Oliver Monson took full advantage of his pole starting position to lead the whole way and steer his No. 5 rig into the win­ner’s circle.

IMCA Speedweek success for Shryock at friendly confines of Kossuth County

ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 5) – The track where Kelly Shryock earned his 500th career feature win became the site of his first IMCA Speedweek victory. Shryock checked out on his IMCA Modified foes Thursday evening, taking the $2,100 checkers at Kossuth County Speedway.  “We’ve been working pretty hard and everything has fallen into place for us at the right time,” Shryock said. “We have a had a good car on the flatter tracks. It’s been a great season for us.” He’d started fourth and drove by Nick Meyer and Zane DeVilbiss for the lead early in the 20-lap Denny Hovinga/Gary Harken Memorial main event at Algona. Never seriously challenged, Shryock won ahead of Jeremy Mills. Nelson hustles to $1,000 Hobby Stock win

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 14) – Along with talent, winning a special in dirt track racing frequently in­volves two other factors, a little luck and a good draw. Dylan Nelson used all those things to top a big field of IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks in a $1,000 to win main event Thursday at Kossuth County Speedway. Nelson started on the outside of the front row and led all 20 laps. The caution flew on four occa­sions to regroup the field, but each time Nelson pulled away from the pack. Cody Nielsen ended up in second place with Chanse Hollatz placing third. Leah Wroten took fourth and Greg Sidles was fifth. Kyle Sidles went from 22nd starting to eighth as the hard charger. Looft wins IMCA Northern SportMod special at Algona

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 29, 2023) – All summer long, Swea City’s Matt Looft has simply dominated the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod division at Kossuth County Speedway. On Thursday night, things remained the same as Looft led 18 circuits of the 25-lap, $1,000 to win Wyffels Hybrid SportMod Special to highlight the evening of exciting dirt track racing. Justin Klynsma and Dustin West led the SportMod field to flag-stand for the green flag in the feature as Klynsma took the early lead with the yellow flag appearing early. The caution flag reappeared one lap later and also on lap number six for spins as Klynsma continued to lead the race with the ninth starting Looft lurking and looking for his opportunity. Lap number eight presented that chance and Looft moved to the front and pulled away from the field for his sixth feature win of the season at the track but his biggest payday so far.
