DUBUQUE, Iowa (May 6) – Sunday’s Merfeld Brothers Auto IMCA Modifieds feature at Dubuque Speedway was another nail biter as several drivers took their turns at the front.
Bryce Garnhart battled with Austin Moyer for much of the 20-lap main event before crossing under the checkers ahead of Moyer. Last week’s winner Jason Schueller turned in another fine run in taking third.
Defending IMCA national champion Tyler Soppe scored the feature win in the 18-lap GSI Collision Specialists Northern Sportmod main event.
Soppe fought to the front from a fourth row start to score the win ahead of early leader Justin Becker. Scott Busch followed up last week’s win with a third place finish.

Derek Thompson found the tacky track to his liking in scoring the 20-lap Merfeld Auto IMCA Modified feature. Thompson led the most laps in taking the checkers ahead of Austin Moyer and Matt Short. Jason Roth won his second consecutive GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Northern SportMod main event. Roth took the point position after the midway portion of the 18-lap main and went on to cross under the flag stand ahead of Gage Neal and Troy Bauer.
INDEPENDENCE, Iowa – A Deery Brothers Summer Series doubleheader is on the docket this weekend, as the 33rd annual tour for IMCA Late Models travels to Independence Motor Speedway and Dubuque Speedway. A top prize of $2,000 is on the line Saturday, April 27 at Independence while the winner of the Sunday, April 28 Hershel Roberts/Ray Guss Sr. Memorial at Dubuque goes home with $2,500. Both features pay a minimum of $300 to start. The Sunday show was rescheduled after a mid-April twinbill at Maquoketa and Dubuque was lost to unseasonable weather. The 492nd event in series history takes Deery drivers and fans to Independence for the 30th time. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. with racing to follow. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, $15 for students and free for kids 12 and under when accompanying a paid adult. Pit passes are $35. DAVENPORT, Iowa (April 4) – A rich weekend kicks off the Deery Brothers Summer Series’ history-making 33rd season. Opening night takes the IMCA Late Model tour to Davenport Speedway for the $5,000 to win Rebel 5K next Friday, April 12. Completing the tripleheader slate are $2,500 to win events Saturday, April 13 at Maquoketa Speedway and Sunday, April 14 at Dubuque Speedway. “You’d be hard-pressed to find another series in America that can boast about their 500th event in series history.
