PEORIA, Ariz. – Their top check is $3,000 and IMCA Modified drivers also run for a spot on the 2017 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot at Canyon Speedway Park’s Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24 and 25 Desert Classic.
The Modified main event is 40 laps and pays $1,500 for second and a minimum of $125 to start. Friday’s 25-lap qualifier pays $600 to win and a minimum of $75 to start, with the top eight redrawing for starting spots in the big show.
Entry fee is $150 for the weekend or $200 for Saturday only.
IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will race for regular weekly purses both nights. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Allstar Performance State points and local track points will be given in those three divisions; Modifieds earn national, Larry Shaw Racing Western and state points.
Pit passes are $35 for adults, $20 for kids ages 7-11 and free for six and under. Spectator admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and military, and free for kids 11 and under.
Gates to the pit area will be open all weekend while the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. both days. Hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m.
An open practice for all divisions is Thursday, Feb. 23.
