YUMA, Ariz. – Eight $1,250 to win main events take top billing when the inaugural IMCA Arizona Modified Tour ventures to Cocopah Speedway, Arizona Speedway, Canyon Speedway Park and San Tan Ford Central Arizona Speedway.
Each IMCA Modified feature is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event and a minimum of $150 will be paid to make the 24-car fields. All eight programs will be broadcast by IMCA.TV and also featured on MAVTV.
One hundred and sixty cars, including 98 Modifieds, are now pre-registered and represent 19 states and two Canadian provinces.
The tour is at Cocopah for Friday, Saturday and Sunday events Feb. 10-12, at Arizona Speedway Tuesday, Feb. 14; at Canyon Speedway Park Thursday and Friday, Feb. 16 and 17; and at San Tan Ford Central Arizona on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18 and 19.
Entry fee each night for the Modifieds is $35. Tow is $40. Practice nights are Thursday, Feb. 9 at Cocopah and Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Peoria.
Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods run for $600 to win and a minimum of $60 to start, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $500 to win and a minimum of $60 to start each night. Entry fee is $25 and tow money is $30 for both divisions. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks will also run at Cocopah.
IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, Allstar Performance State and special series points will be awarded each night.
Pit passes are $30 each night of the tour.
Cocopah shows double as the IMCA Winter Nationals with pit gates opening at 2 p.m., the grandstand opening at 5 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. each nigh.
The Valentine’s Day event at Arizona Speedway sees gates opening at 3:30 p.m., the grandstand opening at 4:30 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. both nights at Canyon.
Pits open at 3 p.m., the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. and racing is at 6 p.m. Feb. 18 at Casa Grande. The finale sees pits opening at 10 a.m., the grandstand opening at 11 a.m. and racing at 1 p.m.
The muffler rule (the track 78 series Schoenfeld or IMCA stamped 609, 935 and 965) is in effect at Arizona Speedway and San Tan Ford Central Arizona. The final two series dates are also Snowbird Classic events.
National, regional and state points will be awarded at all eight shows; track points are also at stake for Arizona Speedway and San Tan Ford Central Arizona Speedway programs and Modified, Stock and SportMod series champions become eligible to qualify for their respective races of champions during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.
