Three-day swing takes IMCA Hawkeye Dirt Tour to Des Moines, Osky, Knoxville

DES MOINES, Iowa (July 14) – Three events in as many nights will test the mettle of both men and machines following the Hawkeye Dirt Tour.

Traveling Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds are at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Speedway in Des Moines on Tuesday, July 19 and at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa on Wednesday, July 20 for $1,000 to win events before running for $1,500 to win on Thursday, July 21 at Knoxville Raceway.

All three tracks are half-mile ovals.

The Tuesday show marks the first appearance by the Dirt Tour at Des Moines. Southern Iowa Speedway also makes up the Stock Car Shootout program rained out earlier this month on Wednesday. The Thursday feature at Knoxville is the final qualifying event for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot and pays a minimum of $300 to start

Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. at Des Moines. Hot laps are at 6:15 p.m. and racing starts at 6:45 p.m.

Spectator admission is $15 for adults with a Casey’s discount coupon, seniors and veterans are $13, students are $10 and five and under are free. Pit passes are $30

Osky opens the pit gates at 5 p.m. and the grandstand at 5:30 p.m. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. Spectator admission is $15 for adults and $8 for kids. Pit passes are $25.

There’s a buy-in for Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Mach-1 Sport Compact drivers who didn’t race at the July 5 Shootout. Bill and Ray’s will buy pit passes for new drivers in those divisions.

Pit gates at Knoxville open at 2 p.m. and the 6 p.m. drivers’ meeting precedes hot laps and racing starts at 7 p.m.

The grandstand opens at 6 p.m. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and free for 12 and under. Drivers’ pit passes are $25; all others are $30. Transponders are required for Modifieds and must be furnished by the driver.

Dubuque Speedway hosts the Tuesday, July 26 Dirt Tour show, paying $1,200 to win and a minimum of $150 to start.

One hundred and two drivers from eight states have competed at one or more of the first five Hawkeye Dirt Tour events of the season. Two-time feature winner Joel Rust takes the point lead to Des Moines, with Chris Abelson and Corey Dripps close behind.
