Texas Lone Star Series starts with Abilene Ice Breaker Feb. 21-23

ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 14) – Opening weekend for the Texas Lone Star Series doubles as Abilene Speedway’s Ice Breaker special Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 21-23.

Series feature events are on the card each night for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks.

Top prize for Modifieds each night is $700. SportMods run for $600 to win, Stock Cars for $400 to win and Hobby Stocks for $250.

All applicable IMCA points, including track points, will be awarded for each draw/redraw show. Home region points will be awarded to Modified, Stock and Hobby drivers; Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods can race with Southern SportMods but not for points.

Selby Holder returns as tour director. Southwest Racing Specialties of Hobbs, N.M., is title sponsor of the Southern SportMod series and Wild Child Race Cars of Burleson is title sponsor for the Stock Car series.

Spectator admission at Abilene is $12 for adults and $5 for kids ages 6-12, with five and under free. Pit passes are $25 each night.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. hot laps are from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The pits open at 3 p.m., hot laps are from 5-6 p.m. and racing is at 7 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, church services at the track are at 10 a.m., pit gates open at 11 a.m., hot laps are from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and racing gets underway at 1 p.m.

Gates open at 11 a.m. and practice is from noon-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16. Gates open at 5 p.m. and an open practice runs from 6-10 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Deschamp Shines in Stock Car Thriller at Nodak Speedway

(Apr. 27, 2025) — Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars took center stage at Nodak Speedway’s season opener, and the 3/8-mile “Playground of Power” delivered thrilling side-by-side action on a crisp Sunday evening. Chris Tuchscherer, the 2005 Williston Basin Stock Car champion and double-duty driver for the night, grabbed the early lead. However, two-time defending track champion Will Scheresky found a way around him by lap 4 and began pulling away before a caution slowed the field on the fifth circuit. On the restart, Gabe Deschamp — fresh off a win at Marshalltown’s Frostbuster earlier in the month — tracked down Scheresky and completed a bold move on the inside to take command on lap 6. DeYoung Powers to Crystal Victory, Extends Incredible Streak

(Apr. 26, 2025) — Myron DeYoung proved the high side was the fast lane at Crystal Motor Speedway, using a late-race move to claim his first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win of the 2025 season — and extend one of IMCA’s most impressive streaks. With the victory, DeYoung has now won at least one IMCA Modified main event in each of the last 31 consecutive seasons, continuing a remarkable run that spans more than three decades. Jaycob Truemner grabbed the initial lead after a spirited battle with Jerry Hunt.
