Ward tops Modified main at Harken Memorial

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 25) – Tim Ward was the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified winner at Saturday’s Gary Harken Memorial, when Kossuth County Speedway honored a long-time track employee who passed away earlier this year. One of the highlights of the evening came as Harken’s grandson Alex Christensen of Nevada, Mo., displayed the American flag around the track during the national anthem and led the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods for their parade lap. Ward held off Tad Reutzel, Mike Jergens and Jesse Hoeft for his third local win of the summer. Hoeft used a late-race pass of Reutzel to place second with Reutzel third. Kevin Opheim rocketed from 10th starting to the front spot just five laps into the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and he held onto the lead the rest of the way. Dolan does it again, wins IMCA Late Model thriller at Benton County

VINTON, Iowa (July 26) – For the third time this season, the IMCA Late Model Sunday Series made an appearance at Benton County Speedway. For the second time, Ryan Dolan narrowly took the checkers ahead of series point leader Todd Cooney. Each driver enjoyed sizable leads in the 25-lapper before exchanging slide jobs in the final stages to set up an exciting finish. From a second row start, Dolan assumed command by the completion of the first lap while Cooney ran the top side from the fourth row. Cooney reeled in Dolan on the 10th circuit and made his way into the lead one lap later. He quickly pulled away to a half-straightaway advantage. Dolan kept the leader in his sights and was able to close back in on Cooney as he entered lapped traffic with a handful of laps to go. Four win Lincoln County IMCA features during fair

By Kelly Ninas NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (July 25) – Colton Osborn, Casey Werkmeister, Denny Egge and Jacob Olmstead were fair night IMCA feature winners at Lincoln County Raceway. Grabbing the lead on lap five and holding off all challengers was Osborn, who was in the lead pack from the onset and never looked back to win the Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modified feature. Charley Brown was the runner-up finisher after moving past third-place finisher David Murray Jr. on the white flag lap. No stranger to the winner’s circle, reigning track champion Werkmeister drove to the lead on the third lap on his way to earning the victory in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Frontier Days features two $1,000 to win IMCA Modified races

LOVELOCK, Nev. – Xtreme Motor Sports IMCA Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win on both nights of Lovelock Speedway’s third annual City Auto Parts/NAPA Know How 40 special this Friday and Saturday, July 31 and Aug. 1. Both Frontier Days events are qualifiers for the 2016 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded each night. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, military personnel and students ages 11-15, and free for kids 10 and under. LONGDALE, Okla. – Two of the most popular drivers from the NASCAR ranks take green flags at Tuesday and Wednesday, July 28 and 29 IMCA Night specials at Longdale Speedway and Outlaw Motor Speedway in Muskogee. Meyer, Mielke both win third Off Road Speedway features of season

(July 25) – Ramsey Meyer and TeJay Mielke both notched their third wins of the season at the Off Road Speedway Saturday in the Mach-1 Sport Compact and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock features, respectively. Meyer led Jake Timm and Shannon Pospisil to the finish line. Mielke then took first in the Hobby Stock feature ahead of Jeremy Hoskinson and Tiffany Bittner. 19 states already represented in early entries for Sept. 7-12 Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – The 33rd annual version of America’s Racin’ Vacation is already represented by drivers from across the nation. Nearly 200 drivers representing 19 states have already pre-registered for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s, to be held Monday through Saturday, Sept. 7-12 at Boone Speedway. “We’re just over a month and a half from opening night and the numbers for Super Nationals are very encouraging,” noted IMCA President Brett Root. “We’ve emphasized getting pre-registered and making pit parking arrangements as soon as possible. EAGLE, Neb. – More than 70 drivers from 11 states and Canada have now pre-registered for the Sept. 3-6 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car Nationals at Eagle Raceway. Features on Friday and Saturday, Sep. 4 and 5 both pay $700 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. The Sunday, Sept. 6 main event pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $1,000 to start. Saturday’s race of champions pays $1,000 to win and $100 to start.
