PEM adds to IMCA program with new Deery, Arnold’s Dirt Knights, Modified regional awards

ST. CLAIR, Mo. – Performance Engineering & Manufacturing expands its IMCA awards program again this season.  New in 2019 are $250 certificates for champions of the Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models, the Arnold Motor Supply Dirt Knights Tour for Modifieds and for champions of each of the five Modified regions; and $150 certificates for the Deery, Dirt Knights and Modified regional run­ners-up.  These $250 and $150 certificates are to be used for the purchase of a PEM Quick Change Rear End and are redeemable through the company direct.   The St. Clair, Mo., manufacturer, an eight-year sponsor, again gives a set of quick change gears to the winners of 30 designated Modified specials and to pole starters at each Deery Series and Dirt Knights tour event. Texana adding IMCA Modifieds to Saturday shows

EDNA, Texas (Feb. 26) – Interest generated by a Modified race held at Edna last fall led to the IMCA division being sanctioned there this season. IMCA Modifieds join Saturday programs at Texana Raceway Park beginning with opening night on March 30. Another 13 events are scheduled at the 5/16-mile clay oval through season championship night on Sept. 28. “There was a lot of interest. We polled the drivers and it was unanimous that they wanted to go with IMCA,” said promoter Rachel Densman, who purchased the track two years ago with her husband Kenny, a former Modified driver. “IMCA is a well-known organization. We like the rules and we like that our drivers will be eligible for point funds.” Located approximately 100 miles southwest of Houston, Texana Raceway Park will field a strong group of local Modified drivers while getting cars from the San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Houston areas. Abbey stars on final day of Lone Star Tour, clinches crown with IMCA Stock Car sweep

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (Feb. 23) – A career-first accomplishment led to a career payday for Jef­frey Abbey. Abbey won the final two events of the Sniper Speed Lone Star tour Saturday at 281 Speedway, earning $750 for each feature victory and $5,000 for the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car tour crown.  “I’ve won two features in the same day before but not in the same division,” said Abbey. “It’s al­ways fun when you have cars from all over. It’s fun to race with cars you haven’t raced before.”  Both features were moved to Stephenville because of weather in Kennedale and Friday features wound up being postponed to Saturday.  Abbey took his first $750 checkers of the day from the pole. COLUMBIA, S.C. – Drivers in four IMCA divisions chase RAM Clutches contingency awards for a seventh consecutive season. Late Models become fifth IMCA division racing Saturdays at Off Road Speedway

NORFOLK, Neb. – IMCA Late Models will have another regular weekly home in the Cornhusker State.   The newly sanctioned division joins four other IMCA classes on Saturday programs at Off Road Speedway.   “We’ve been looking for an organization with solid motor and tire rules,” said promoter Jerry Pospisil, who met with IMCA President Brett Root and Vice President of Operations Jim Stannard before announcing his decision to sanction. “IMCA has a complete set of rules that are pretty well cut and dried.”  The 1/3-mile dirt oval in Norfolk had been part of a Late Model series with other tracks in eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. Former track champion Dolan takes promoter’s post at Dawson County

LEXINGTON, Neb. – Back when he was winning IMCA track championships at Dawson County Raceway, Chad Dolan didn’t give a thought to promoting. Now that he’s in charge of the 3/8-mile dirt oval at Lexington, he’s looking for ways to give fans and drivers their money’s worth and then some.  “My vision is to give people the wow factor. If we can do that on opening night May 19, we won’t have anything to worry about,” he said. “I’m excited to give people in Central Nebraska something they haven’t seen at Dawson County Raceway before. Lund goes 2-for-2 at 281 with second Lone Star Tour victory

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (Feb. 18) – The top line took Curt Lund to his second $750 Sniper Speed Lone Star Tour feature win in as many nights Monday at 281 Speedway. Lund posted back-to-back checkers by making a strong run on the outside groove. The top five in the fleet IMCA Sunoco Stock Car field represented as many different states, as Elijah Zevenber­gen, Hesston Shaw, Dean Abbey and Joe Bellm chased Lund across the stripe. Lund had started third and dropped back a couple spots. He worked his way back toward the front, taking over the lead for good on lap 10.  Gregory Muirhead and Clifton Whisenant both raced from eighth starting spots to win the Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod and Mach-1 Sport Compact main events, respectively.  Justin Nabors and James Hanusch completed the SportMod top three.
