14 new to Fast Shafts All-Star eligible list

VINTON, Iowa (June 21, 2024) – Another 14 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified drivers have raced their respective ways to eligibility for Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying. Eric Barnes was best at East Moline Speedway’s Ronnie Weedon Memorial and Grey Ferrando topped Yreka Speedway’s Biehn Memorial. Winning Wild West Speedweek main events were Bricen James and Collen Winebarger. Benji LaCrosse won big at 141 Speedway’s Clash at the Creek while Kyle Strickler collected rich Twin 25 checkers at Beaver Dam Raceway. Cody Leonard paced the STIMS show at I-37 Speedway and Dallon Murty was a Monday Madness winner at Independence Motor Speedway. Kyle Rohleder was the Showdown winner at Thomas County Speedway while Clay Sellard won at Dodge City Raceway Park’s Dave Garmann Memorial. Winners of weekly features paying $1,000 or more were Myron DeYoung, Jake McBirnie, Kelly Shryock and Johnny Whitman. Tietz shakes off rust at Redwood for first IMCA Stock Car win since 2016

REDWOOD FALLS, Minn. (June 16, 2024) – Eight years after his last IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win, Ken Tietz raced his way back to victory lane. Tietz reeled in and then outran Jesse Rogotzke for the Sunday night checkers at Redwood Speedway. His career 61st win in The Class Too Tough To Tame was also his first since July of 2016, after a heat race crash left him with a multitude of broken bones along with a destroyed car. “I’m not going to lie, it feels good to win. I kept saying I’d be back next year and next year never came,” said Tietz, from Belle Plaine. “I had Paul (Burger) over at B & B build me a new car, so I had a brand new 2017 car sitting in the garage that I could never seem to get done.” “Priorities and just life got in the way. Snellenberger soars again at Eagle River

(June 18, 2024) – Rod Snellenberger passed Jason Zdroik for the lead with five laps remaining and went onto collect the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win at Eagle River Speedway Tuesday night. Snellenberger, Wisconsin’s winningest IMCA Stock Car driver, trailed another former track champion who was substitute driving for his brother. Zdroik jumped into the early lead and appeared headed for a victory. However Snellenberger remained within striking distance of Zdroik and with seven laps remaining began to close the gap. On lap 15, Snellenberger ducked underneath the Eagle River veteran and cruised to victory. On the final circuit coming out of turn four Zdroik clobbered the frontstretch wall, relegating him to a fourth place finish. David Blackberg finished second with Patrick Farley Jr. coming home in third. Hometown driver Jonathan Miller rounded out the top five finishers. For Snellenberger, the win was his 223rd career IMCA Stock Car feature flag.

IMCA Late Models race for Sunoco bonuses at US 30, Off Road

VINTON, Iowa (June 18, 2024) – A pair of $250 Sunoco Race Fuels bonuses will be awarded this week, to IMCA Late Model drivers racing at Nebraska venues US 30 Speedway and Off Road Speedway. The division title sponsor gives those bonuses, and a five gallon fuel jug, to feature winners Thursday, June 20 at Columbus and Saturday, June 22 at Norfolk. Drivers are eligible to get the bonus one time: In the event of a repeat winner, the runner-up or next eligible driver goes home with the money and fuel jug. Hot laps are at 7:20 p.m. and racing follows the 7:55 p.m. playing of the National Anthem for the Ladies Night show at US 30. Jasons Ryan, Robles are IMCA aces at Antioch

By Candice Martin ANTIOCH, Calif. (June 15, 2024) – Jason Ryan Jr. and Jason Robles were IMCA feature winners Saturday at Antioch Speedway. Ryan won the 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature while Robles collected the checkers in the 15-lapper for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Kelly Campanile set the early pace ahead of Al Johnson in the Northern SportMod show. A low pass in turn four of the second lap put Ryan into second, and Ryan made a similar move a lap later to take the lead. Ryan began to stretch his advantage, leaving Campanile to battle Ken Shrader for the second position. By the 17th lap, Ryan held a half-lap advantage over Campanile, but a yellow flag waved for Haley Gomez. Ryan resumed command on the restart. Shrader tried to get a run on the inside, but Campanile kept her cool on the outside to maintain second. Larson, Merkes, Soppe, Hunter are IMCA winners at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 15, 2024) – Chalk up Saturday IMCA feature wins at Maquoketa Speedway for Jeff Larson, Kyle Merkes, Tyler Soppe and Sheldon Hunter. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature saw defending track champion Larson add another feature win to his 2024 resume. Larson shot to the top of the track from his third row start and quickly worked to the front. Larson was able to get by early race leader Mark Schulte as the race closed in on the halfway mark. Charlie Mohr also found the high side to his liking advancing from a fourth row start to move into second late in the race. Mohr was able to close on Larson but was not able to pose a serious threat to the leader. Mohr crossed under the checkers in second ahead of Schulte. Sauerman scores first Boone win of season

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (June 15, 2024) – It was Farley’s Pre-owned Night at Boone Speedway on Saturday, and despite the gloomy forecast of rain/storms, it was no issue for the racing program and in particular for Cory Sauerman who took his first local Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win of the year. Doug Smith took the honors in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for the second time, and also making return visits to victory lane were Cam Reimers in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, Eric Knutson in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Ben George in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites. The Mod Lites rolled to the track first for their 15-lap feature event. Pettit, Golden take IMCA checkers at Ocean

(June 14, 2024) – Grassroots stock car racing action hit the dirt track at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville on Friday night, highlighted by victory in the 25-lap IMCA Modified feature for the Hall of Famer Jim Pettit II. Raymond Kjeldsen, Jr. drove around the outside of polesitter Kyle Bryant at the start of the Modified nightcap, swooping into the lead on lap one. Robert Marsh and Pettit used the outside line to drive into second and third, respectively. Pettit hounded Marsh but was unable to pass him for second, until Marsh spun in turn four. Marsh continued but surrendered several positions. Keldsen had a nearly 2.5 second advantage on Pettit at that stage on lap 10, but Pettit went to work reeling him in. Heffner hoists Hagerstown hardware

By Jim Haines HAGERSTOWN, Md. (June 15, 2024) – The annual Dad’s Night Out Race at Hagerstown Speedway didn’t disappoint from Kenny Heffner’s perspective. Heffner led the distance in winning the Saturday event, contended by 41 IMCA RaceSaver sprinters and co-sanctioned by the Virginia Sprint Series, Laurel Highlands Sprint Series and Pennsylvania Sprint Series. AJ Barton and Heffner paced the feature field to green with Heffner inching out front up top as Barton stayed low and stayed close with Zac Rhodes quickly in third with Tim Iulg and Austin Reed rounding out the early top five. Mallicoat motors to IMCA Modified checkers at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (June 16, 2024) – Izac Mallicoat’s first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win came at the Clash on the Coast in Florida back in March. His second came a little closer to home. The second-year Modified driver started 10th, but quickly found his way into contention and eventually victory lane Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. Luke Bird raced into the early lead of the Wright Way Trailers 20-lapper. He paced the field while a host of drivers gave chase. Mallicoat, running both high and low, worked into contention prior to the midway point, then took over the top spot and held off a hard-charging Ben Chapman, who started alongside Mallicoat in row five.
