Rhodes repeats as PASS ‘Power’ winner

(July 19, 2024) – Thanks to a couple of rainouts, it took the River Valley Builders Pennsylvania Sprint Series until midseason to make its first appearance at its oldest stop, the quarter-mile Path Valley Speedway bullring, but Zach Rhodes and his fellow IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car competitors made sure the large crowd remembered why PASS keeps coming back. The McVeytown driver fought his way past Mike Alleman to take the lead with five laps remaining in the 25-lap feature and won the PASS portion of the special Dr. Crouse’s Night of Power program for the second consecutive year. The margin of victory was three-quarters of a second. Doug Dodson, who charged from 10th starting, also got past Alleman on the next-to-last lap and finished second, while Alleman, who was oh-so-close to his first feature victory since taking his only career checkered flag at this track 23 years ago, came home third. Friday is a night for the record book as Ward takes 100th IMCA Modified win at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 19, 2024) – Marshalltown Speedway was back on its regular Friday night of racing this week and it was one for the record books as Tim Ward captured his career 100th Friesen Performance IMCA Modified victory. Kaden Reynolds got out in front and was gone in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and Brayton Carter had no trouble in snagging the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod victory. It was Calvin Dhondt adding to his list of wins in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks as did Cristian Grady in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts and Dillon Raffurty made the trip up from Kansas City, Missouri pay off when he saw checkers in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites. The Mod Lite 15-lap feature was up first. Travis Stensland started on the outside front row and jumped to the immediate lead when the race went green. Simmons wins IMCA Modified thriller at CJ

By Jerry Mackey COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 19, 2024) – Friday was 1 Off Fab night at the CJ Speedway located on the Louisa County Fairgrounds. The racing was excellent on a smooth slick race track which provided multiple groove racing all night. The headliner of the night was the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature that provided close racing and a very close finish. Kolton Osborn and his team make the long tow from Janesville every Friday to race and the youngster is yet to win his first feature at CJ but has been knocking on the door to victory lane many times. Osborn shot to the front from his sixth position start, overtook early leader Barry Dugan and appeared to be on his way to his first CJ victory. Osborn led for several laps before the lead pack swelled to three with Osborn, Dakota Simmons and Jarrett Brown racing under the flag stand three-wide with three laps to go. Jerovetz is back for win at Britt, Krug is IMCA Hobby Stock Titan

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (July 19, 2024) – Troy Jerovetz continues to be a fan of Hancock County Speedway. A winner at Britt earlier in the season, he claimed the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature event Friday night. A caution erased his 2.5 second lead and Jerovetz had to hold off a charging Kelly Shryock and Colby Fett. Justin Ades rounded out the top four. Early in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature, a three-wide battle between Zane DeVilbiss, Jeremy Mills and Todd Steinhart saw contact between DeVilbiss and Mills. The result of the slight contact had Mills spinning and bringing out a yellow. When the race concluded, DeVilbiss went on to win over Izac Mallicoat and Kelly Shryock. Mills raced back to claim fourth place. Charlie Stevens earned a long overdue win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Keller collects Friday checkers at Ocean

(July 19, 2024) – Kc Keller prevailed over a strong field of Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods to claim Friday’s 20-lap feature at Ocean Speedway. “I had a little baby girl in February, she’s five months old now. It was going to be kind of a lot (to keep racing),” Keller said. “But my son has taken a huge interest this year. So we took the car off the market and as long as he’s going with me and the rest family, we’re going to keep going.” Keller snagged the pole position against a 19-car starting grid. The first caution fell on lap five when Brian Baggett spun in turn two. On the restart, Steven Allee pedaled a bit from second to fourth. Douglas County triumph to Stevens

By Ben Deatherage ROSEBURG, Ore. (July 17, 2024) – Jordan Stevens stood on the top step of the podium, following the Wednesday night feature for Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts at Douglas County Dirtrack. Bid VanLoon captured the lead in the first set of turns of the feature, but down the backstretch, Stevens powered his way to the front. Stevens built a sizable advantage over the rest of the pack via the high side as the race developed. The father-daughter combination of Burnie and Melissa Bryant fought hard for second. Melissa secured the position a couple of laps into the race. Burnie settled into third, while VanLoon was close behind him in fourth. Stevens began to hit traffic right around the halfway point while Burnie Bryant continued to put pressure for second. The race experienced a bit of twist when Melissa Bryant got into a lapped car on the eighth circuit, forcing Burnie to check up and allowing VanLoon to perform a double overtake. Mayden, Points prevail in Midweek Mayhem at Cottage Grove

(July 17, 2024) – Wednesday provided the second installment of the brand-new Midweek Mayhem series at Cottage Grove Speedway, with IMCA feature wins going to Jake Mayden and Trevor Points. When the green flag dropped for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, it was Paul Rea who led the pack. He soon found himself in a heated battle with Mayden, who was determined to challenge for the race lead. Rea got some breathing room, but before too long, Mayden worked the bottom of the racing surface brilliantly to beat Rea to the wire on lap four by a mere three hundredths of a second. Mayden pedaled hard to separate from the runner-up and the race for second erupted into a complete melee. Carter Patterson threaded the needle under Rea on the eighth circuit, but Rea was able to get back around him on the following lap. Fast Shafts All-Star eligible list adds 13 drivers

VINTON, Iowa (July 18, 2024) – Add 13 drivers to the list of those eligible to qualify for the upcoming Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Ty Clemens topped Gallatin’s Modtana Madness and Keith Lamphere was a winner in NY-Penn Series action. Eric Mass was best in the .38 Special at Black Hills and Jake Pike’s long tow to Bakersfield paid off with the Richie McGowan Memorial checkers. Caden Roberts ruled the Upper Missouri Valley Fair show at Williston. Todd Shute paced Stuart’s Ron Little Memorial while Todd Stinehart scored at Kossuth County’s Bradie Becker Memorial. Winners of weekly features paying $1,000 or more included Steve Askew, Jordan Bartz, Austen Becerra, Jed Freiburger, Bill Roberts Jr. and Jeff Westergard. Antioch win is IMCA first for Jennings

By Candice Martin ANTIOCH, Calif. (July 13, 2024) – Jason Jennings won his first career IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event Saturday at Antioch Speedway. The Class Too Tough To Tame was also given a Polar Bear Rolled Ice Cream Trophy Dash. Title contender Jason Robles won that four-lap race after his son Kenneth Robles made his season debut with an eight-lap heat race triumph. Scott Foster and Jennings started on the front row and battled early. Jennings would win that battle with Jason Robles getting around Foster to take up pursuit of the leader. In the end, Jennings made all the right moves and came home with a well-earned first career victory over Robles, Foster, Jeff Bentancourt and Mitch Machado.

Dan Grams Memorial checkers fly for Serbus

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 13, 2024) – Extra money was on the line before and in the Rice Companies-sponsored IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature on Dan Grams Memorial Night Saturday at Arlington Raceway. Andrew Allen and Chris Graf each won heat races and earned $100 from GRP Motorsports. Then Allen won the foot race on the front stretch with the top 10 drivers to determine who would draw first, picking up $50 from Johnson Motorsports and a 55-gallon barrel of methanol from Rick and Jessica Linde and Joel and Katie Eckberg. In the feature, Brandon Allen was the early leader as he led the first seven laps until Trevor Serbus came up in turn four, saw an opening on the top and then made an awesome move, sliding under Allen to take the lead. They stayed in that 1-2 order through back-to-back cautions, when Brett Allen took the high groove and got around Brandon Allen to gain the second spot.
