Morris makes incredible last lap move to win at Mohave Valley

(Sept. 14, 2024) – Fans in the stands at the Mohave Valley Raceway were brought to their feet as Troy Morris III pulled off an incredible last-corner pass after exchanging the top spot twice on the white flag lap in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. The Bakersfield, California driver came from 13th to score his second win of the season at the 3/8-mile oval this year and the 11th time he’s bested the field in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region in 2024. Noah Geer led most of the main event. Seizing the lead from the start, the local driver sprinted to a healthy advantage on the initial green flag run of 16 laps. Smooth sailing for Harris at Hampton

(Sept. 14, 2024) – With the large, mighty ships of the Hampton Roads ports all around the area, Jerald Harris showed how to set sail, going to the front and on to win Saturday at Langley Speedway for two in a row. The Virginia Sprint Series feature was paced to green by Aaron Leach and Jimmy Humblet with Leach out first and Humblet behind. Early on, watching Harris working the high line you could see he was coming to the front as he passed a car lap after lap, getting second and chasing down Leach. Caleb Harris was racing with Humblet and Matt Mullins for third with Harris moving to third, leaving Humblet to fight for fourth with Mullins. Latest I-37 win is STIMS fifth for Dinsmore

By JM Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (Sept. 14, 2024) – It was another “hot” night of racing at I-37 Speedway after a week off. The action was as hot as the temperatures on the quarter-mile mile, semi-banked, dirt, oval just outside Pleasanton. It’s still a tight battle in the South Texas Friesen Performance IMCA Modified Series by Hortch Speed Shop with Chris Morris now on top by 10 over Ryan Doyon and 11 over Rick Green. Jacob Hortch led the STIMS field into turn one at the start of the 20-lap feature, but it was Green getting inside to lead lap one. Hortch, Morris, Jared Maupin and Logan Dinsmore followed in the top five. Morris got by Hortch for second with Maupin following to third. Dinsmore was next to pick up a spot from Hortch before Maupin spun and collected Hortch, ending both their nights. On the restart, Green had Morris looking high while Dinsmore looked low. Wright wins battle, Lindeman wins war at Marysville

(Sept. 14, 2024) – Jace Wright rose to the occasion and did not crack under pressure in a wild main event at Marysville Raceway in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. The championship bout witnessed Wright lead the entire distance. However, the feature was not short of heart-stopping drama in the battle for the track crown. When all was said and done Raymond Lindeman won the points title. Wright took the lead from the start, withstanding numerous challenges from K.C. Carpenter and mastering four restarts, making the race a thriller. Everything came down to the last lap. As the white banner flew, Carpenter drew level at the flag stand, and they maneuvered the 1/4-mile clay oval; Wright maintained control in the first turn. Despite a moment of instability in the fourth corner, allowing Carpenter to catch up, Wright ultimately won the race to the checkered flag. Beckendorf records Rucks Memorial win

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Sept. 14, 2024) – Brandon Beckendorf was the third and final leader in the Jeff Rucks Memorial event for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds at Arlington Raceway Saturday night. Trent Loverude started on the pole and Clint Hatlestad who started in the second row, moved right to the front with him by the eighth lap, Hatlestad was the leader but only for two laps as Loverude retook the position. A yellow came out for a spinning car and on the restart, Hatlestad was in second behind Loverude once again but the 10th starting Beckendorf was also in the mix. Three laps later, Beckendorf put the pressure on and as they were coming in for the white flag, it was Beckendorf leading the pack. He held on for the $1,000, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying win with Loverude taking second, Hatlestad in third and Dalton Magers fourth. IMCA champions are crowned at RPM

By Sheldon Wickwar HAYS, Kan. (Sept. 15, 2024) – Eighty-two race teams checked into the legendary RPM Speedway for championship night racing on Sunday. Taking home feature wins were Gage Porter in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts and track champions Blaine Walt in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, Zach Olmstead in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Kyle Pfeifer in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Daniel Gottschalk in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Rileigh Flohrs was the Sport Compact track champion. The 15-lap feature for the 4-cylinder class started with a front row of Kaishen Brack and Alison Jeske. Brack led early while Kyle Mortensen and Porter fought for second, with Porter grabbing the lead after a few laps. Jake Schwien broke and that would open the championship door for Flohrs. Saturday engine auction adds $33,000 to purse shares at IMCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 10, 2024) – The auction of champions’ engines added another $33,000 to the Saturday night purse paid at the 42nd annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Kelly Shryock’s Stock Car winning engine sold for $10,500, adding another $362.07 to purse shares for the other 29 drivers in that division. Logan Anderson’s Northern SportMod title-winning engine gaveled at $8,000, so the other 29 drivers in that main event receive another $275.86. The Hobby Stock engine that took Nathan Ballard to victory lane sold for $7,500, adding $258.62 to purse shares for each of his 29 main event competitors. And the Modified engine that put Dylan Thornton on top of the NAPA Fan Zone podium and in the Super Nationals record book sold for $7,000, adding another $218.75 to purse shares for the other 32 drivers in that Big Dance. North Dakota rookie will go dancing in Super Nationals debut

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 4, 2024) – Jonny Carter needed a single night to accomplish everything he’d hoped to and a lot more Wednesday at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Latest RaceSaver Nationals crown is career third for Bubak

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Sept. 1, 2024) – The 2024 IMCA Racesaver Nationals is in the books, and what a story it was as Jake Bubak’s career third crown came with an event record $12,000 check. Bubak led Joey Danley across the Sunday night stripe at Eagle Raceway to add another trophy and custom made belt to his collection from 2020 and 2022 triumphs. Third in the Saturday qualifier and winner of the BlueMax Pay Race of Champions the same night, Bubak passed John Carney and then Danley following the scheduled stoppage on the 30th of 50 laps. “It took us a little while to get going. I’m actually glad that it was a long race because it benefited the way our car was,” Bubak said, during the combined victory celebration and birthday party for car owner Ben Aufill that followed the 12th annual event. “I think the biggest part of the win was getting up to third and being able to choose our line on the restarts during the two-wide restarts in the second stage.” [Read More]
