Olson Doubles Up in Stock Cars at Benton County

By Christine Rublack VINTON, Iowa (June 1, 2025) —Tony Olson went back-to-back at Benton County Speedway in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars by winning the 20-lap feature. Riley Hanson took an early lead in a three-car battle for second place between Austin Schuring, Olson, and Dakoda Sellers. Johnathan Logue had now found his way into the top three. Olson worked the high line and into the top position. It was Olson who crossed the checkers first, followed by Logue, Sellers, and Hanson. The Cedar Rapids racer started sixth and now has six wins in EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region action in 2025. Mike Smith Claims $1,000 Scott Cook One-Eye Memorial SportMod Victory

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 29, 2025) — It only took a month for Lake City’s Mike Smith to win his first major Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod event after moving from the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks, a class he dominated for several years. On Thursday night, Smith pocketed a $1,000 payday by winning the Scott Cook Memorial One-Eye SportMod Special at Kossuth County Speedway. Smith and Jason Carney led the field to green, with Carney pacing lap one before Smith took command on the second circuit. A caution flew on lap three after Braden Claborn spun, and just two laps later, the red flag was displayed following a wild crash in front of the grandstands. Leraas Flies Like the Wind at Natural Bridge

(May 31, 2025) — On a day that started warm and clear and ended cool and windy, Mike Leraas of Kernersville, North Carolina, soared to the front of the field at Natural Bridge Speedway, claiming a breezy victory with the Virginia Sprint Series. Leraas and Aaron Leach led the field to green, with Leraas immediately taking the high side to grab the lead. Jerald Harris and John Scarborough quickly made their way forward, shuffling Leach into a fierce battle with Matt Mullins and Daren Bolac for fourth and fifth. The 20-lap caution-free feature moved swiftly, with drivers trying different lines in pursuit of speed. Clymens Cashes In at Marysville with SportMod Triumph

(May 31, 2025) — The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature at Marysville Raceway was a thrilling one, with a host of top drivers battling up front throughout the 20-lap contest. Mark Garner led early until Brentwood’s Trevor Clymens made his move around lap three to take over the top spot. A caution on lap five slowed the pace, but once the race resumed, Clymens was lights out. He built a massive lead until another yellow flew with six circuits remaining, erasing his advantage and stacking the field for a high-pressure restart. Clymens was up to the challenge, pulling away once again and never looking back. It marked Clymens’ second win of the season but his first visit to victory lane at Marysville in 2025. Jansen Rallies Late for RaceSaver Sprint Car Victory at Huset’s

By Inside Line Promotions BRANDON, S.D. (June 1, 2025) — Jared Jansen made a late-race pass to score his second career RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car victory. Sawyer Grogan paced the field for the first 18 laps before Jansen drove into the lead using the bottom groove in turns one and two on lap 19. Tye Wilke followed Jansen by Grogan for second, but flipped in turns one and two on the final scheduled lap. That set up a green-white-checkered restart with Jansen holding off Grogan by 0.934 seconds. Jansen, who started the race sixth, is the fourth different driver to win in the division during four races this season. Aydin Lloyd ran third.

Graham Tops the Hobby Stocks for $1,000 at Marshalltown

By Kaden Krebs MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 30, 2025) — The RBF Electric/Mid States Boring-sponsored Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature at Marshalltown Speedway paid $1,000 to win, and it delivered in the excitement department. Tom Killen Jr. started on the pole, with Kolby Sabin to his outside. Killen led lap one before last week’s winner, Kevin Sather, worked past him and held the top spot for much of the race. Bradly Graham wasn’t going to let him run away with it. Graham reeled him in, battled side by side, and made the winning move with two laps to go. Trebelhorn Thrills Arlington Crowd With Stock Car Triumph

Zimmerman started on the front row of the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main event and raced side by side for the first five laps until Tim Pessek worked his way into the mix. A yellow flag waved when Mark Zimmerman spun in turn four and exited the track. On the restart, Trebelhorn maintained the point and took off, while Pessek, Zimmerman, and Josh Larson battled for second. Another caution came on lap ten when Randy Melvin had issues and pulled off the track. Trebelhorn again led the field to green and withstood heavy pressure. Bittner and Kepner Take PA Sprint Series Checkers at Port Royal

By Frank Buhrman PORT ROYAL, Pa. (My 31, 2025) — Timmy Bittner kept the streak alive, then Kruz Kepner smashed it. On a cold night, Port Royal Speedway officials heated up the action by dividing the 50-car River Valley Builders PA Sprint Series field in half and running two complete features. Bittner extended the series’ run of new 2025 winners to eight with an impressive 2.694-second win over Mike Melair in the first feature. Kepner then became the season’s first repeat winner in the second feature, finishing 1.279 seconds ahead of Logan Spahr. For Bittner, from Beech Creek in Clinton County, it also was his first career PASS victory, although he has won elsewhere and is a former RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car Pennsylvania State champion. Rasmussen Rules Antioch for Third RaceSaver Win of 2025

By Candice Martin ANTIOCH, Calif. (May 31, 2025) — Kyle Rasmussen of Clovis won the 25 lap California RaceSaver Sprint Series main event. The two-time State champion turned in a rather dominant performance in collecting his third win of the season. Rasmussen led from the outset ahead of reigning California State champion Phil Heynen and current point leader Davey Pombo Jr. Following a lap five yellow flag for Rino Feliciano, Rasmussen resumed command. Pombo slipped past Heynen for second at that point, but Rasmussen started pulling away again. The race had one more slowdown, but that did not deter Rasmussen as he scored an impressive victory ahead of Davey Pombo Jr. and Heynen.

Strand Edges Dahl in Modified Main Before Rainstorm Rolls In

(May 30, 2025) — In the final feature of the evening at Dacotah Speedway, it was not only a race for the win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, but a race against the weather as rain in the distance was starting to settle in. Pole sitter Caden Roberts led early before defending track champion Shawn Strand took the lead on lap two. Strand quickly distanced himself from the field but as the laps wound down, Mark Dahl started to cut into Strand’s lead. By lap 10, Dahl was challenging Strand for the lead. They raced side by side, door to door for several laps. However, lapped traffic made it an exciting race for the win as the leaders sliced and diced their way around the slower cars. Coming to the white flag, Dahl cleared Strand for the top position. However, as they raced back to the checkered flag, Shawn Strand just narrowly edged Mark Dahl for the win — his first of 2025 in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. [Read More]
