Kay, Marolf tires pass post-Deery test

VINTON, Iowa (July 11) – Results from the July 8 Deery Brothers Summer Series event at West Liberty are now official, as testing at an independent lab showed that samples from the tires of the top two finishers conformed to IMCA benchmarks. Justin Kay was the winner and Nick Marolf the runner-up. Tire samples have now been tested following multiple sanctioned races, two of them being IMCA Late Model tour events this season. Those tires were determined to be IMCA legal in each occasion.

Hawkeye State Speedweek sports three XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour dates

VINTON, Iowa (July 11) – Following in the tire tracks of the high-paying Hogan Memorial, three XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour events are scheduled over the course of just five nights during the Hawkeye State Modified Speedweek. Touring IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $150 to start on Monday, July 14 at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson and Tuesday, July 15 at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. Top prize is $2,000 at the Thursday, July 17 Harris Clash at Knoxville Raceway. That event pays a minimum of $250 to start. IMCA Modifieds race for as much as $4,000 to win when Hawkeye State Speedweek starts Sunday, July 13 with the Hogan Memorial special at Benton County Speedway. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. at Vinton, where IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks complete the program. Carter doubles up at Southern Iowa

By Jeremy Fox OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 9) – Cayden Carter was a double winner Wednesday at Southern Iowa Speedway, following his run to the Budweiser IMCA Stock Car checkers with a visit to victory lane after the Musco Lighting IMCA Modified main. Carter took the lead on lap eight and stayed in front to the Stock Car finish. He shot out to the early lead in the Modified go and never looked back in taking his first local win of the season in that division. Ryan Fullenkamp led every lap of a caution-free KBOE Radio IMCA Northern SportMod main event. Mike Hughes won his third straight and seventh local Pepsi Cola Mahaska Bottling Company IMCA Hobby Stock feature while Bill Whalen Jr. lead all 10 laps in the Mach-1 Sport Compact feature to take his fourth win of the season at SIS.

Wild West IMCA Modified Speedweek Right Around The Corner

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. – Over the span of a week’s time later in July, three tracks will host a total of six Wild West IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified Speedweek races to determine bragging rights for the division in the Pacific Northwest. Beginning on Saturday, July 19 at Sunset Speedway Park and ending on Saturday, July 26 at Willamette Speedway, the six-race series will determine who are the best IMCA Modified chauffeurs in the region at three of the most competitive tracks in the state of Oregon. Cottage Grove Speedway will host two mid-week events on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 22 and 23. Since 2011 there have been three completed Modified Speedweeks. Jesse Williamson has won the last two while the inaugural edition went to Brian Poppa. Already a stout field of competitors plan to make the journey in 2014. Sunday show at Dubuque next for Deery Series

DUBUQUE, Iowa (July 9) – A rare summertime weekend show is next on the Deery Brothers Summer Series schedule. Touring IMCA Late Models are at Dubuque Speedway for a Sunday, July 13 event that pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Also running are IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, for all applicable points. Pit gates at Dubuque open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4:30 p.m. Racing follows 6 p.m. hot laps. Spectator admission is $16 for adults and free for kids 12 and under when accompanying a paying adult. Pit passes are $30. Benson stands tallest at SportMod Nationals

BRITT, Iowa (July 4) – Aaron Benson finished first on The Fourth. As a result, he drove out of the pit area at Hancock County Speedway with a check for $3,500 and a trophy taller than himself. Benson led all 25 laps from the pole in the twice-rescheduled, MaxYield Seed-sponsored Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod Nationals. The victory was good for $2,500; Benson also got $500 bonuses for having won previously this season at Britt and for racing at least three times there previously in 2014. “I’ve been second at big-money races before. We finally got a big win here,” said Benson, at 5-8 four inches shorter than the hardware he took home. ”There were a lot of good cars lined up behind me. Grabouski gets second Dakota Tour win on record-smashing night at Mandan

MANDAN, N.D. (July 10) – For a driver who’s never followed the series before, Jordan Grabouski is making himself right at home on the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Track Side Tour. With a mind-boggling and new series event record 92 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Dacotah Speedway, Grabouski sped to his second $2,000 feature win of the week Thursday night. Of equal importance, Grabouski climbed to second in the standings going into Friday’s finale at Jamestown Speedway, 17 points behind Jeff Taylor. “The track was really racy,” said Grabouski, who started sixth and led the last 21 circuits of a 30-lapper that ran without caution. “I’ve never been to any of these tracks before but they’ve been a lot of fun. Ruter outruns Dakota Tour Modified foes at Southwest

DICKINSON, N.D. (July 9) – Ryan Ruter proved to be fastest in a fast-paced feature for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, on another record-setting night for the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. Ruter led every circuit of Wednesday’s main event at Southwest Speedway. The 30-lapper ran caution-free and Ruter held on for the $2,000 checkers ahead of Jeff Taylor after getting mired in slower traffic. A track record 79 Modifieds ran at Dickinson. Car count records for the division have been broken or equaled each of the first four nights of the 25th annual tour. Taylor ended the night in second, just a car length off the pace. Jordan Grabouski, Jeremy Keller and Scott Drake were third through fifth, respectively.
