Baca regroups, races to Eggstravaganza checkers

SOMERTON, Ariz. (April 9, 2022) – Saturday’s IMCA Modified main event at the Cocopah Speedway Easter Eggstravaganza got exciting when Chaz Baca didn’t want it to. After catching Ryan Roath for the lead and working his way through lapped traffic, the two-time defending Shaw Race Cars Western Region and track champion nearly lost the handle with eight circuits remaining in the $1,000 to win feature. “It was definitely a get your heart rate going thing,” Baca said after the near disaster. “Luckily we were able to regroup the last few laps and finish it off.” The checkers were the sixth of the season for Baca, already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible. Easum turns luck around with Oil Capital win at Ada

By John Rittenoure ADA, Okla. (April 9, 2022) – After a couple nights of costly engine failures Terry Easum was more than ready to see things turn around. And that happened Saturday at Oklahoma Sports Park. Easum drove his Premier Self Storage IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car into the early lead and went the 25-lap distance to win the AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series main event. “It has been awhile,” said Easum, who had not won since 2021. “We had some bad luck the past few weeks. I think we got it turned around now.” The tough luck started last month at Lawton. “We broke a motor,” Easum said. “The block started leaking. Just a freak deal. Big money for Jernagan at West Coast marquee event

MERCED, Calif. (April 9, 2022) – Garrett Jernagan turned a marquee event into a career-best payday Saturday night. He led the last 26 of 30 laps in winning Merced Speedway’s Al Miller Memorial special for IMCA Northern SportMods, taking home a $5,000 check. “This win ranks right up there, knowing the Miller family and racing one night for five grand,” the Bakersfield driver said, adding plugs for the dual heat format as well as track officials and sponsors. “This is one of the marquee events on the West Coast and it’s nice to only have to go 2-1/2 hours from home and race for $5,000.” Kenny Shrader got the jump on the 20 car field before Jernagan found the fast bottom groove. “I stayed there until right around lap 14 when we had a caution. HAYS, Kan. (April 11, 2022) – RPM Speedway opens the season in legendary fashion with the Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16 Mike Hughes Memorial Sunflower Classic. IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility both nights while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $750 to win in each of their B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying events. Boone Frostbuster wins to Ward, Kuehl, Murty, Smith

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (April 9, 2022) – Four drivers wrote their names into the history books with IMCA Frostbuster wins Saturday at Boone Speedway. One hundred and ninety cars took to Iowa’s Action Track and checkers flew for Tim Ward in the IMCA Modifieds, Taylor Kuehl in the IMCA Northern SportMods and a couple 2021 Super Nationals champions, Dallon Murty in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Mike Smith in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Forty-three ground-pounding Modifieds were on hand and it was defending IMCA national champion Jeff Larson leading the opening laps. By lap 11, however, Ward had grabbed the top spot. Ward, already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, never relinquished his lead as he motored home to the win. Jeremy Mills had to be content with second. Batesville reschedules IMCA weekly show to Sunday afternoon

BATESVILLE, Ark. (April 8, 2022) – Races for tonight (Friday, April 8) at Batesville Motor Speedway have been re-scheduled for Sunday, April 10 at 2 p.m. due to the wet ground conditions and the extremely cold temperatures. Pit gates will Sunday at noon and the grandstands will open at 1 p.m. The awards ceremony for the 2021 drivers will take place in victory race and races will follow at 2 p.m. with IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars on the afternoon card. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, KMJ Performance State and track points will be awarded in both IMCA divisions. Spectator admission is only $20 per carload.

(April 8, 2022) – Integra Racing Shocks’ 13th season of IMCA sponsorship sees drivers in six divisions chasing shares of nearly $10,000 in product certificates to be awarded by the Coopersville, Mich., manufacturer.
