Reed repeats PASS win at Selinsgrove

By Frank Buhrman SELINSGROVE, Pa. (July 8, 2023) – Austin Reed squeezed past Zach Rhodes on the outside after a brief but furious battle for the lead and went on to win the 20-lap River Valley Builders Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature Saturday night at Selinsgrove Speedway. It was the second straight win at the Snyder County oval for the veteran from Etters, who finished second in PASS points last season, and it came on a night that saw misfortune strike several front-runners, while those with better luck entertained the fans with some great on-track action. Reed claimed a victory margin of 1.77 seconds at the checkers. Rhodes, who drew the pole position after winning his heat race, led the first 17 laps and nearly scored his first career PASS win – he won an IMCA RaceSaver feature earlier this year with the Virginia Sprint Series at Winchester, Va. He hung on for second place ahead of a hard-charging Doug Dodson, who took third from Kruz Kepner on the final lap after starting ninth. Thirteenth starting [Read More]

Richards records first win on Disco Fever Night at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (July 8, 2023) – A third generation driver became a first time Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod on Disco Fever Night at Eagle Raceway. Mason Richards kept Adam Armstrong in check in the Saturday show, and followed father Terry and grandfather Terry Sr. onto the roll of feature winners at the famed Nebraska speed plant. “It’s definitely special. Both my dad and grandfather have won here at Eagle, so being the third generation to win here just makes it all the more special, especially in my rookie year here. I couldn’t be happier,” he said. Mike Densberger won for the first time this season at Eagle in the IMCA Modifieds, leading from lap two to the checkers. “It’s been a long time. I don’t think I got a win out here last year so the year that I won the championship (2021) was the last time I won out here,” he said. “The car was really good all night. We tweaked something before the races even started because we saw [Read More]

RaceSaver win is first for rookie Snow

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 1, 2023) – A driver from Princeton was king of the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars Saturday night at Arlington Raceway. Jeremy Snow won his first career feature in the winged class, leading the distance in a 15-lap feature that ran green to checkered. “It felt fantastic,” said Snow, an IMCA rookie at 48 and winner in his 14th night out. “We have taken some lumps this season (rebuilding the car in late May) so it was a great feeling to get this win. We have put so much into this.” Snow ran WISSOTA super stocks from 2001-2011 and was out of the sport before getting back behind the wheel, with much success, in support of brother Joe’s Minnesota Micro Sprint Series. “I paid attention to what some of the other drivers were doing and got the itch,” said Snow, who has 16-year-old son Wyatt as crew chief. “I tested a non-wing Sprint Car at Cedar Lake, ran about 18 laps and bought a turnkey car out of Jackson.” Mike Stien was his closest [Read More]

Bittner sprints to Founders Cup, Nittany 40 sweep

Story Courtesy of Clinton County Speedway MILL HALL, Pa. (June 30-July 1, 2023) – Timmy Bittner had the best weekend of his IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car career over the weekend, capturing two hallmark Laurel Highlands Sprint Series events at Clinton County Speedway. Bittner won the Founders Cup event Friday and then put his name in the history books by capturing the coveted Nittany 40 Championship on Saturday. Owen Dimm took command of the field early on Friday in the race honoring speedway founders Del Shank and Tedd Reitz as Zach Rhodes advanced to second and the eighth starting Bittner to third. Bittner was in second when lap five was scored, caught Dimm for the point on lap eight and then built a respectable lead while navigating lapped traffic. Dale Schweikart took over second on the 19th circuit and came within striking distance but had to settle for runner-up honors. Dimm, Josh Beamer and Kasey Weaver ran third through fifth, respectively. Tim Iulg and Ken Duke were on the front row for the start of Saturday’s RaceSaver [Read More]

Harris rockets to Virginia Sprint Series checkers

By Jim Haines HAMPTON, Va. (July 1, 2023) – During the Virginia Sprint Series’ annual visit to Langley Speedway leading into the July 4 holiday, the rocket turned out to be on track with Jerald Harris streaking to sweep the night.  Harris and Matthew Leach paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car field to green with Harris out first and bringing Billy Hubbard along as Leach and Chris Humblet fought for third. Harris was running hard but trying to save tires as the key to keeping fast on pavement is to keep tire wear to a minimum. A restart at halfway after an accident clean up meant they would all get a crack at Harris but he proved to be up for it ,staying strong out front. Laps clicked off until Billy Hubbard had to retire after breaking a wheel to slow the field, an incident that gave the now second-running Humblet. Harris shot off on the restart with Humblet close behind, but nothing would stop Harris from flashing under the checkered flag and becoming the [Read More]
