Hagen Surges Late to Win Monte Lundy Memorial at Nodak

By Ben Deatherage MINOT, N.D. (Aug. 17, 2025) — McGregor’s Travis Hagen powered from eighth starting to win the Second Annual Monte Lundy Memorial for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, pocketing $4,014 on Sunday night at Nodak Speedway’s “Playground of Power.” The victory was Hagen’s 10th of the season in the Razor Chassis North Central Region and his sixth at Minot. 2014 Nodak Speedway title winner Drew Christianson led the opening laps before cautions slowed the early going. 2017 IMCA national kingpin Jason Wolla — also a two-time North Dakota State and former Nodak Speedway titlist — applied pressure on the restart, while four-time reigning Estevan Motor Speedway track ruler Kody Scholpp used the outside groove to grab the lead on lap six. Christianson briefly regained the point after a lap 14 restart, but Scholpp battled back on the high side. Defending Monte Lundy Memorial winner Aaron Turnbull, the 2013 Dakota Classic Modified Tour titlist, soon entered the fight, with multiple cautions — including one on lap 23 — keeping the leaders tight. Lessig Family Sweeps Stock Cars at El Paso County; Brian Sr. Edges O’Lear by Three Points for Title

By Suzan McCoy CALHAN, Colo. (Aug. 16, 2025) —  On championship night at El Paso County Raceway, the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main event turned into a family affair as Peyton’s Brian Lessig powered to victory, followed by his son, Brian Lessig Jr. of Colorado Springs, in second. Local driver Ryan O’Lear of Calhan crossed in third to complete the podium. The win was Brian Lessig’s second of the season at El Paso County Raceway and also his second in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region. More importantly, it secured him the track championship by just three points over O’Lear, 255 to 252, in one of the closest title battles of the year. Clay Dominates SportMods; Championship Decided by Six Points The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods produced some of the fiercest racing of the year, but on championship night Colorado Springs’ Scott Clay left no doubt. Starting from the pole, Clay led every lap in a dominant performance, with Pueblo West’s Dave Stock in second and Calhan’s Daniel Payne in third. The victory was Clay’s [Read More]

Whitman Prevails in Outagamie Speedway Modified Feature

By Joe Orsini SEYMOUR, Wis. (Aug. 15, 2025) — The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified finale at Outagamie Speedway kicked off with Kevin Feck grabbing the top spot at the drop of the green. Marcus Yarie wasted no time sliding into the runner-up spot and pressured Feck until making the pass on lap three. While that battle raged, Jayden Schmidt quietly worked the No. 24 into third, but Konnor Wilinski had other ideas and slipped by both Schmidt and Feck for second just before the halfway caution. Mechanical issues sidelined Feck under yellow, erasing a strong run. Wilinski used the restart to lead lap 11, but Yarie countered the very next trip around. That duo swapped the lead like kids trading baseball cards until point leader Johnny “The Hitman” Whitman joined the party in third. A late caution set the stage, with Wilinski seizing the restart, Whitman sliding into second, and then daring the high side. On lap 19, momentum carried Whitman past Wilinski and to the win. Dan Roedl snatched second with a last-lap move, and [Read More]

Williamson Unstoppable in Modified Midweek Mayhem at Cottage Grove

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (Aug. 13, 2025) — Jesse Williamson dominated Wednesday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified 25-lap feature at Cottage Grove Speedway, scoring his second Shaw Race Cars Western Region victory of 2025. Both wins have come at CGS for the Coburg driver, a multi-time IMCA Wild West Speedweek champion and pilot of the SDMF Customs no. W5 house car. Williamson jumped to the lead at the drop of the green and dealt with slower traffic as early as lap eight. The lone caution waved on lap nine, setting up a slider attempt from defending series and five-time reigning track champion Jake Mayden going into turn one. Williamson kept his cool, reclaimed the point, and set a torrid pace the rest of the way. Even with more lapped traffic on lap 17, he was unshaken and drove to a convincing win over his younger brother Kevin, in the Superior Fuel Cells-owned no. 42, and Mayden in the Dustin Brooks-owned no. 5M. Murty Muscles Past Carter for Stock Car Thriller

By Kaden Krebs MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main event at Marshalltown Speedway was the showstopper of the night, going 20 hard-fought laps. Ethan Atcheson and Dillon Solum brought the field to green, with Solum pacing the opening lap before a quick caution with 19 to go. Solum, Brayton Carter, and Dallon Murty staged an early three-way fight for the top spot until another yellow at lap 16 bunched them again. Carter pounced on the restart, taking the lead with 15 to go, but Murty stayed in striking distance. After a final caution with five laps left, Murty and Carter pulled away from the pack, with David Brandiss and Jimmy Gustin joining the scrap in the closing laps. Murty outdueled Carter at the stripe to back up his win from the previous week — his sixth Stock Car victory of 2025, two of them at Marshalltown and five in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region. Carter, Brandiss, Gustin, and Solum completed the top five. Berry Jr. Bests Murty in Modified [Read More]

Once out front, Mills built a commanding advantage and never looked back, collecting his fourth feature win of the season at Algona and a $2,000 payday. The victory was also his 11th of 2025 in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. Tim Ward finished second for $1,200, with Baca third and $1,100 richer. Shryock Strikes for Seventh Algona Stock Car Win McCain Jennings jumped out to the early lead in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main, pacing the first three laps before Shryock took over. Deschamp Claims $4000 John Gaule Memorial Glory at Nodak

By Ben Deatherage MINOT, N.D. (Aug. 10, 2025) — Westhope’s Gabriel Deschamp topped the inaugural John Gaule Memorial at Nodak Speedway on Sunday night, pocketing $4,000 in the biggest Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod race in North Dakota. The 40-lap main event honored the late John Gaule and drew a talent-packed field of 48 entries from across the state and beyond for its first running. Three-time Estevan Motor Speedway champion and 2025 Tougher Than Dirt Tour titlist Leevi Runge paced the opening laps after starting from the pole. Reigning North Dakota State champion Keenan Glasser powered into the lead on lap nine, but just three circuits later it was 2025 Nodak Speedway champion Chad Stratchen taking over. The trio traded positions through the middle stages, with Deschamp — the two-time Tougher Than Dirt Tour champion and reigning Thunder Mountain and Estevan Motor Speedways title holder — joining the fray by the halfway mark. A three-wide tangle among the leaders with less than 10 laps to go shook up the order and gave Stratchen the lead [Read More]

Maughlin Grabs Household Victory at RPM

By Sheldon Wickwar HAYS, Kan. (Aug. 9, 2025) — The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature at RPM Speedway had a little extra on the line besides a trip to victory lane — household bragging rights. Polesitter Brianna Maughlin jumped out front from the get-go and quickly had company from her boyfriend, Kamren Gruber, who shot into second. The two traded close-quarters laps with Gruber peeking low a few times but unable to get alongside. A mid-race caution for spins by Jack Kirchoff and Justin Meserve bunched the field, but Maughlin stayed poised and powered away on the restart. She scored her second win of the season and third of her career, with Gruber settling for second and Chad Dolan in third. Schwien Outduels Compact Field for Sixth Win The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact main event saw Jacob Kappel and Kyle Mortensen lead the early charge, but the heavy hitters soon arrived. Connor Schwien, Gage Porter, and Kiowa Higdon muscled their way into contention, swapping positions in a fierce three-way fight. Contact and close calls were [Read More]
