Mallicoat motors to IMCA Modified checkers at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (June 16, 2024) – Izac Mallicoat’s first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win came at the Clash on the Coast in Florida back in March. His second came a little closer to home. The second-year Modified driver started 10th, but quickly found his way into contention and eventually victory lane Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. Luke Bird raced into the early lead of the Wright Way Trailers 20-lapper. He paced the field while a host of drivers gave chase. Mallicoat, running both high and low, worked into contention prior to the midway point, then took over the top spot and held off a hard-charging Ben Chapman, who started alongside Mallicoat in row five. Mark Schulte and Bird completed the top four. John Oliver Jr. raced from the fourth row to take top honors in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars presented by Christie Door Company.  After a terrific battle with Braden Richards, Miciah Hidlebaugh and Kaden Reynolds, Oliver assumed command and then held off a late surge from Hidlebaugh to secure his third win [Read More]

Kinzley repeats at Dacotah Speedway

By Becca Pelkey MANDAN, N.D. (June 14, 2024) – Quentin Kinzley collected his second Friesen Performance IMCA Modified victory in as many weeks Friday at Dacotah Speedway. Jordan Braun and Elijah Puckett started on the front row, however, it was veteran Marlyn Seidler who quickly took the lead when the green flag waved followed by Kinzley. The front pair quickly caught the tail end of the field. As Kinzley tried to pass Seidler for the lead, lapped traffic took his racing line around the ⅜-mile track. As the leaders continued to battle in lapped traffic, it allowed defending track champion Mark Dahl to close in. With five laps to go and with a clear race track, Kinzley slipped into the lead and pulled away. Seidler finished second while Dahl was third. Caden Roberts finished a strong fourth place and Jason Wolla rounded out the top five. Zach Hughbanks started on the pole for the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature. He led early as they raced three-wide for second behind him between Alex Thompson, Harrison Schwartz [Read More]

By Scott J. Owen SEYMOUR, Wis. (June 14, 2024) – Fantastic weather and a full pit area of 143 cars greeted fans Friday night at Outagamie Speedway. Win to Bjerkeset, Lund lands Arlington bonus

ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 8, 2024) – Ryan Bjerkeset went home with the win and Curt Lund went home with a $500 bonus after the Rice Companies VIPs added a little twist to the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature Saturday at Arlington Raceway. As much as an additional $2,100 was on the line for drivers accepting the back row challenge: They’d get the full amount if they won, or an extra $500 by advancing the most positions toward the front. Two drivers took the challenge, Lund and Ken Tietz, and with extra money on the line, the race was understandably intense. Jeff McCollum was the first lap leader with Matt Speckman in second; the positions were reversed on the following circuit. By the ninth lap, Bjerkeset was in the mix from his 11th place start. A yellow flag was thrown on the 10th lap following a multi-car collision. On the restart, Speckman again led the field but four laps later Bjerkeset got around him. Matt Looft, who had started 12th, used the last restart to his advantage and moved [Read More]

Dosch delivers first IMCA Stock Car win at Dacotah

By Becca Pelkey MANDAN, N.D. (June 7, 2024) – Matt Dosch became a first-time IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature winner while Quentin Kinzley won his first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature since 2022 Friday night at Dacotah Speedway. Casey Binstock and Jason Berg led the field to the green flag in the Stock Car feature. Berg grabbed the early lead before Shawn Strand slipped by on lap two. Strand’s lead was short-lived however as Dosch took over on lap three. Dosch started to pull away until a mid-race caution regrouped the field. On the restart, it was a thrilling battle for third between Berg, Jaden Christ, Hunter Domagala and Marlyn Seidler. With only a few laps remaining, the second-running Strand started to change his driving line and close in on Dosch. But it was too little, too late as Matt Dosch picked up his first victory in The Class Too Tough To Tame. Strand had to settle for second for the second week in a row. Hunter Domagala finished third.  Outside pole sitter Kinzley wasted no [Read More]
