Career 100th IMCA Hobby Stock win sends Mike Smith back to victory lane at Boone

LAKE CITY, Iowa (Aug. 3, 2024) – The track that’s already been the scene for so much of Mike Smith’s success saw him in victory lane again Saturday night. Smith raced to the 100th win of his IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock career at Boone Speedway, becoming at 20 the youngest driver to reach that milestone number. He also joined his father David, now knocking on the door of 200 career IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature wins, and uncles Dustin, Devin, Donavon and Doug in the IMCA Century Win Club. “I wanted to be in that club. It’s quite impressive,” said Smith, “and it means a lot to do it at Boone Speedway, especially because we race there weekly. Pfeifer, Deschamp, Medler, Heaton are night one Coal County Classic winners

(Aug. 2, 2024) – McLean County Speedway hosted its final race weekend of 2024 with Steven Pfeifer, Gabriel Deschamp, Darren Medler and Taylor Heaton earning IMCA feature wins. Dalton Flory was the early leader in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified ranks. Travis Hagen caught Flory and challenged on the bottom but couldn’t make it work so he transitioned to the top shelf. While that occurred, Pfeifer came into the fray to make it a three-car battle for the lead. Flory did his best to keep them all in check, but Pfeifer successfully obtained first place on lap six with Hagen motoring his way into second. Drew Christianson went into third and tried to challenge Hagen for the runner-up around lap 10. The yellow came out one last time with 13 laps complete, setting up a dozen laps left to cover. Fair winners collects big trophies at Colby

(Aug. 2, 2024) – Every racer dreams of winning big races and taking home a big trophy and Eddie Belec, Kyle Pfeifer, Blaine Walt, Brady Bencken and Kyle Mortensen all did that Friday night at the Thomas County Fair. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods were up first with a 15-lap feature event paced by Monty Nordyke and Douglas Beaman. Nordyke gained the early advantage and pulled away from second-running Nick Hankins until a lap six caution. Walt took the lead off of the restart and duked it out with Nordyke until a lap nine yellow. Walt then pulled away by a big margin over Josh Barnhart, who charged up to second place late in the feature, to pick up win number four of the season. Second was Barnhart and third was Nordyke. Osborn scores first-ever win at CJ Speedway

It is always very special to see a driver score their first ever feature win and that happened on Friday night in the very tough Friesen Performance IMCA Modified division. With a stellar field of 18 drivers taking the initial green flag it was the young Kolton Osborn setting sail and shooting into the lead from his third row start. Osborn, who has been knocking on the door of victory lane all year at CJ Speedway, finally saw his hard work come to fruition but the win was anything but easy. Pre-race ceremonies honored those that gave the ultimate sacrifice as well as honoring those veterans in attendance, who were given free admission thanks to EMW. Flippo dominates at Britt, Smith gets 99th win

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 2, 2024) – Three different drivers were in the second position at different times of Friday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Hancock County Speedway. Jerry Flippo, however, proved to be the one who could move up a spot. Flippo, who has suffered through a summer of bad luck, finished the race more than a half track ahead of eventual runner-up Cody Knecht. Knecht charged from sixth to finish ahead of Clint Hatlestad and Jeremy Mills. In the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Troy Swearingen made the last lap count as he made a huge move to the bottom of turns one and two to sweep up in front of long-time leader Parker Slagle. VINTON, Iowa (Aug. 1, 2024) – Another 10 drivers have become eligible to qualify for the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational. Hunter Domagala won Dacotah Speedway’s Governor’s Cup. Race Fisher and Robert Reed were Stock Car special winners at Fairgrounds Speedway. Patrick Linn paced Batesville’s JD Garrison Stock Car special, Brandon Schmitt topped the Twin 25 at Beaver Dam Raceway and Travis VanStraten scored big at Shawano’s Too Tough To Tame. County Fair show winners were Layne Bellm, Maguire DeJong and David Murray Jr. William Nusser was a weekly winner. Tyrone Yazzie and Wyatt Howard were winners at Diamond Mountain Speedway’s Modified Mania. Casey Jo Gemmill collected the $1,000 checkers at Saltcity Racing and Russ Reinwald rocketed to the win at 141 Speedway’s white race.
