Mallicoat Outduels Grabouski in Modified Photo Finish At Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Apr. 18, 2025) — The 2025 first night of the Ice Breaker Challenge kicked off in spectacular fashion at Eagle Raceway, and the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event delivered one of the closest finishes the track has seen in recent memory, as Izac Mallicoat battled to the very last corner with his chassis builder, Jordan Grabouski. Jaxon Saathoff led the initial circuit but would soon be doing battle with Mallicoat. Mallicoat took over the top spot from Saathoff on lap 3 but Grabouski continued to march his way to the front on lap 12, moving to second and then taking the lead from Mallicoat two laps later. The stage was set for one of the most intense battles I’ve seen in a long time. Grabouski barely held off Mallicoat for the lead until five to go when Mallicoat took the top spot. Despite a furious challenge by Grabouski, including a last-ditch effort slide job out of turn four on the last lap Mallicoat held him off, winning by a scant [Read More]

Manning accumulated a five-second lead that was nullified by a caution on lap 22. Nezworski Wins Late Model Feature at Davenport opener

By Jeffery Struck DAVENPORT, Iowa (Apr. 11, 2025) – Despite a chill in the air, the Koehler Electric Season Opener at Davenport Speedway, provided a great night of racing. That was until you made it to the tech area. A number of drivers were guilty of infractions throughout the evening. Some even changed the outcome of races. Bryce Garnhart dominated the Sunoco IMCA Late Model feature. Bryce led all twenty-five laps and finished more than seven seconds ahead of the second-place car. Unfortunately, he came across the scales fifteen pounds light in post-race inspection. That handed the win to Andy Nezworski, who started in seventh. Matt Ryan finished second with pole sitter Jake Morris taking third. It was Nezworski’s first win of 2025. Kyle Montgomery picked up the win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main. Kyle swapped the lead a couple of times with pole sitter Kaity Sample early in the race. He took the lead for good on lap five, but still had to hold off the challenges of Logan Veloz and Charlie Mohr to earn [Read More]

By Jerry Mackey TIPTON, Iowa (Apr. 12, 2025) — Drew Janssen added another major win to his résumé by capturing the $1,500 to win Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature during the “Spring Fling” at Cedar County Raceway. The 25-lapper featured a stacked field of Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s, National, and multi-time track champions. Austin Stamm, aboard the Timmy and Marsha Current provided No. 12T, and Dylan Thornton led early until Janssen, driving the Danny Meier and Trent Guest-owned No. 127, took over on lap 5. The Pella pilot controlled the pace from there, only briefly threatened following a late-race caution. On the restart, local standout Ben Chapman charged low and crossed the line in second, while 10th-starting Jeff Larson guided the P.J. Kostenbader-fielded No. B1 to a third-place finish. The win marked Janssen’s second of the season in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. Shute Shines in Stuart Modified Season Opener

By Ben Deatherage STUART, Iowa (Apr. 13, 2025) — The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds headlined the 64th season opener at Stuart Speedway, and Norwalk’s Todd Shute powered to victory in the 20-lap feature. California transplant Trevor Fitz jumped out to the early lead and held back two-time defending national champion Chaz Baca Jr. of Arizona during the opening laps. A lap seven restart brought new challengers, as Shute and Tanner Black joined the fray. Shute, the 2007 Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s winner and three-time defending Stuart track titlist, made a decisive move on lap 11 to edge out Fitz at the line. A couple of mid-race cautions couldn’t slow him down, and Shute dominated the closing circuits to collect his second Razor Chassis North Central Region win of the season. Fitz held on to finish second, while 2019 Arizona State champion Kelsie Black, wife of Tanner, completed the podium in third.
