Double Down Prelude precedes 41st annual MCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 23, 2023) – The second biggest event in all of dirt track racing just got twice as good. The ninth annual Wild Rose Casino Prelude Sept. 2 and 3 at Boone Speedway has rebranded to become the inaugural Double Down Prelude, with double features for any division with more than 100 cars competing. “We expect to surpass last year’s Prelude record number of 632 cars but still want to make Saturday and Sunday programs more efficient,” noted IMCA President Brett Root. “Qualifying will be similar to the format we use for the Modifieds and Stock Cars during Super Nationals, with more cars qualifying from heats to features or ‘B’ races.” Both Friesen Performance IMCA Modified features will pay $1,500 to win and both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car features $1,000 to win on Saturday; Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod features Sunday pay $750 to win. 2023 Hobby, SportMod, Mod Lite state point leaders are eligible to qualify for race of champions at Boone

BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 22, 2023) – Hobby Stock, Northern SportMod and STARS Mod Lite drivers leading their respective state point standings and bound for Boone and the 41st annual IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s will be eligible to qualify for race of champions events. Twelve cars will start each of those races. State point leaders as of Aug. 31 join 2023 track/series champions and points leaders, as well as former national and Super Nationals champions, former RoC winners and former Hobby Stock regional champions in qualifying for the races of champions. Mod Lite qualifying and the RoC will be held Sept. 3 during the Sunday Prelude program at Boone Speedway. Super Nationals main event qualifiers in six divisions receive replica door panels, hoods

Champions crowned at Marshalltown Speedway

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 18, 2023) – It was North 3rd Avenue Dairy Queen Larry Wollam Season Championship Night at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday. Feature wins went to Todd Shute in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified division. It was Austin Kaplan winning the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event and Logan Anderson took the honors in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. Bradly Graham won the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature, and Joe Glick won the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites and Mitchell Bunch saw checkers in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. Only one feature winner of the night was also crowned a track champion, that being Shute in the Modifieds. Sport Compacts were the first on the track for their 15-lap feature and Mitchell Bunch led all 15 laps on his way to the checkered flag. Berry doubles up with Watermelon Classic, P1P Challenge wins

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 12, 2023) – Boone Speedway was back in action on Saturday night with the running of the Watermelon Classic plus the P1P Challenge race for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. It was a draw/redraw night for all classes, with extra money on the line, plus many bonuses and giveaways to the drivers. And of course, all heat winners as well as feature winners were also awarded a watermelon. Tom Berry Jr. made it a clean sweep in two IMCA Modified features, winning both the regular feature and the P1P Challenge race. David Smith came out on top of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Curtis Veber won in the Friesen Performance IMC Northern SportMods. Carter takes $1,000 checkers at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 11, 2023) – It was $1,000 to win for Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods at Marshalltown Speedway on Friday night, thanks to the BHE Night before the Creek special at the speedway’s sister track, 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, Wis. Brayton Carter went home $1,000 richer taking home that honor. Jarett Franzen led the opening lap of the race but by lap three, it was Sam Wieben leading the troops. Wieben was still leading when a caution flew at lap 12 but he had big-time company by now with a pair of Oskaloosa, Iowa drivers, Curtis Van Der Wal, and Carter on his tail. When the race returned to green, Van Der Wal was able to get the advantage by going topside and took command of the race at lap 13. Another yellow would fly at lap 14 and this time it would be Carter getting the advantage on the restart and flying into the lead.
