Flippo dominates at Britt, Smith gets 99th win
By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (Aug. 2, 2024) – Three different drivers were in the second position at different times of Friday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Hancock County Speedway. Jerry Flippo, however, proved to be the one who could move up a spot. Flippo, who has suffered through a summer of bad luck, finished the race more than a half track ahead of eventual runner-up Cody Knecht. Knecht charged from sixth to finish ahead of Clint Hatlestad and Jeremy Mills. In the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Troy Swearingen made the last lap count as he made a huge move to the bottom of turns one and two to sweep up in front of long-time leader Parker Slagle. It was Swearingen’s second win at the Britt track. Kevin Opheim finished third ahead of Heath Tulp.
