By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (July 23, 2024) – IMCA racing action kicked off the 2024 Hancock County Fair grandstand events with the Black Dirt Nationals. Races were sponsored by Java 18 and Schleusner Dirt Works and featured trophies besting six foot tall. Ethan Braaksma’s hot July continued with him dominating the Tuesday Friesen Performance IMCA Modified action. Winning the heat and main event, he collected $1,000 for his efforts. Already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, he bested a charging Cody Knecht, who came from the sixth starting spot to finish second. Sweigart sprints to second Keystone RaceSaver title

(July 20, 2024) – Nick Sweigart wired the field at Port Royal Speedway Saturday to become only the second driver ever to win the River Valley Builders Pennsylvania Sprint Series’ biggest race, the Keystone RaceSaver Challenge, twice. The veteran driver, who returned to PASS last season after a couple of seasons running 410 sprints, collected his 11th career victory with his latest win. Seven of those have come at Port Royal. Sweigart joins Jeff Miller as the only drivers to win the Keystone RaceSaver Challenge twice in its 13 runnings. His seventh Port Royal win overall moved him into third place in overall PASS wins at the track, trailing only Miller and Garrett Bard, each with 12. Near flawless night, great track make for quick race program at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 20, 2024) – A quick race program played out due to an almost flawless night and great track conditions Saturday at Arlington Raceway. The only mishap all night occurred in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature when a collision happened in turn one between the cars of Jeremy Ziemke and Taylor Manderfield, ending both their race nights. Ziemke had been the early leader and after a restart, Cory Probst got by him to take over the lead and win again. Brad Becker moved up with Probst to take second ahead of Chad Volk. The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature saw Dale Gatton take the lead on lap two and remain in front in the green to checkered flag race. Redwood Stock Car checkers are first for Rogotzke

REDWOOD FALLS, Minn. (July 21, 2024) – After running second to younger brother Jordan in the evening’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event, Jesse Rogotzke was bound and determined to get a win during the Redwood County Fair Race himself. He did just that, taking his first ever IMCA Sunoco Stock Car checkers in the Sunday night finale at Redwood Speedway. “After he won, I figured it was my turn to get a win,” reasoned Rogotzke, a Modified veteran now with 15 sanctioned Stock Car starts under his belt this season. “It felt great,” he added. “Our goal was to get one win this season and now we’ve done that. “Hopefully we can get some more.” Rogotzke had drawn the pole start and protected the bottom line in leading the 15-lapper start to finish. Olson, Cordes top Urbana 5 make-up features at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (July 21, 2024) – One week was worth the wait for Kyle Olson and Troy Cordes. The July 14 Urbana 5 Memorial program was cut short due to rain, forcing the postponement of the headlining events to July 21 at Benton County Speedway. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods were the top attraction for the 10th annual event with a $1,500-to-win 20-lap feature. Olson assumed the early command from his pole position start while the field gave chase. Running the low groove, Olson raced into the lead while Cole Fenske pursued on the top side of the fast, smooth quarter-mile. Although pressured periodically throughout, Olson withstood all challenges to lead the event in its entirety on his way to the big payday. Seidler scores first IMCA Stock Car win on Hall of Fame Night at Mandan

Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds had a make-up feature from June 28. Jacoby Traut and Crist Pittenger led the field to the green flag. Traut led early while Pittenger had his hands full with Quentin Kinzley. Although Kinzley appeared to be faster, he struggled to get around the young driver. They battled door-to-door for second place until Kinzley took the position and set his sights on Traut. Once again, Kinzley struggled to get around Traut but practiced patience on the young driver. With 12 laps to go, Kinzley overtook the top spot and pulled away. Kinzley went on to win his third straight victory at Dacotah Speedway. Shawn Strand finished second ahead of Mark Dahl. Faulkner paces IMCA Modifieds at Petaluma

(July 20, 2024) – Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds were back in action Saturday at Petaluma Speedway and Jeff Faulkner was the winner when the checkered flag waved at the 3/8-mile clay oval. Anthony Slaney jumped to the front on the opening start, but the caution flag came out twice with just one lap completed, eliminating Slaney’s advantage. On the second restart, Faulkner bounced back from his first stoppage spin, which occurred while he was running second, to obtain fourth from Michelle Byron. Just up the road, the race for second intensified with Michael Paul Jr. overtaking Tim Yaeger, with a few laps complete before Faulkner got around. Slaney checked out from the rest of the pack as Paul, Yaeger and Faulkner battled. Smith wins Jess Weishaar Memorial race

By Greg Grabianowski Sports Editor ALGONA, Iowa (July 18, 2024) – Mike Smith won the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature to highlight an exciting night of dirt track racing for the Jess Weishaar Memorial held at the Kossuth County Speedway Thursday night. It was the first time this season there was racing at the speedway two weeks in a row as everyone got ready for the annual Salute to Veterans race on July 25. The Hobby Stock feature was the featured event of the evening as 22 cars battled for a $1,000 first place check and a guaranteed $100 to start the race. Miles brothers dominate Hobby Stock special at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (July 20, 2024)– The Maquoketa Speedway hosted Eastern Iowa Garage Door Night at the races on Saturday with a special event for the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. One hundred and ten race teams packed the pit area and provided an action packed night of racing. The Hobby Stocks were the featured division with a $1,000 to win main event that also carried an additional $780 in lap money. The 25-car starting field took the green flag with Karter Miles setting the pace from his pole position start. Karter led for several laps while his brother Jordan worked to the front from his third row start. Jordan Miles was involved in an incident early in the race that sent him to the rear. The incident lit a fire and Jordan quickly worked back through the field and set up a challenge for the lead with his younger brother.
