BOONE, Iowa (May 30, 2026) — The Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMods produced a pair of memorable features Saturday night at Boone Speedway as Matt Avila collected his third win of the season while Jessiah Taylor celebrated the first victory of his racing career.
The Boone driver advanced eight positions to secure his third victory of the season at three different tracks. Mike Smith also gained eight spots and finished second. Burke settled for third while Trevor Noonan and Dayton Swatek completed the top five. Colby Grady charged from 17th to finish sixth.
Joe Doran led lap two while Jessiah Taylor paced laps one and three in the second SportMod feature of the evening. Jake Sachau worked his way to the front after starting ninth and took over the lead on lap four, but in the end Taylor would be claim the victory.
The Boone driver was credited with the win ahead of Camden Vincent, who advanced six positions to finish second. Kyle Free crossed the stripe third, followed by Jonathan Jensen and Randy Havlik. Summer Grady turned in a strong run from 16th to eighth.
Baca Breaks Through for First Boone Modified Victory
Matthew Meinecke led the early circuits of the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature before Ethan Robey worked his way to the front and paced the field through lap 12. Chaz Baca Jr. steadily worked his way forward before taking command in the second half of the race.
The Jewell driver by way of Mesa, Arizona advanced five positions to score his first Boone Speedway victory. The win was his sixth of the season, first at Boone in 2026, and third in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. It also came one night after his victory at Marshalltown Speedway.
Todd Shute charged from ninth to finish second. Corey Sauerman gained seven positions in taking third while Robey held on for fourth. Jeremy Mills advanced six spots to complete the top five.
Daniels and Smith Split Stock Car Features
Josh Daniels led laps 11 through 13 and again from laps 16 through 18 in the first Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature, but it was brother Bob Daniels who led the remaining circuits and secured the victory.
The Des Moines driver earned his first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the season. Josh Daniels finished second while Matthew Meinecke advanced from seventh to third. Buck Schafroth crossed the stripe fourth and Maguire DeJong rallied from 10th to fifth.
Rod Richards led much of the second Stock Car feature before David Smith worked his way forward from seventh and took command on lap 13.
The Lake City driver earned his second EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season, with both wins coming at Boone Speedway. Richards finished second ahead of Cody Gusthoff and Hunter Smith. Donovan Smith turned in a strong run from 14th to fifth.
Gifford Goes Wire-to-Wire in Hobby Stock Main
Braden Gifford led every lap of the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature on his way to victory.
The Boone driver earned his third B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region win of the season at three different tracks.
Matt Breeden finished second while Corey VanDerWilt advanced from ninth to third. Will Smith charged from eighth to fourth and Matt McDonald completed the top five. Joey Young recorded one of the night’s best drives, advancing from 22nd to seventh.
Gray Makes Last-Lap Pass for Mod Lite Victory
Colby Oberembt appeared headed for victory in the Stealth Racing IMCA Mod Lite feature before Austin Gray found one final surge on the last lap.
Gray completed the winning pass exiting turn four and beat Oberembt to the checkered flag for his first victory of the season.
The Story City driver started seventh and was followed across the finish line by Oberembt, Grant Anderson, Garrett Barber and Joel Huggins. Josh May posted a notable run from 18th to eighth.
