HUTCHINSON, Kan. (Jun. 20, 2025) — William Nusser and Tim Hamilton each won their Friesen Performance IMCA Modified heat races earlier in the night at SaltCity Racing, held on the historic Kansas State Fairgrounds oval on Friday night. That set them up to share the front row for the main event, with Hamilton drawing the pole.

Hamilton grabbed the lead at the drop of the green and immediately distanced himself from a fierce battle for second, where Nusser, Peyton Burkhart, and Jake Nightingale traded positions throughout the contest. Lapped traffic in the final five laps didn’t faze Hamilton, who shook off recent bad luck and drove his brand-new race car to victory lane

Night number five on the new car proved to be the lucky one for the Lindsay, Oklahoma driver, who made the switch from the Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMods to the Modified division in 2022. The win was Hamilton’s second career Modified victory and his first of the season in the Jet Racing Central Region. Burkhart crossed the stripe in second, followed by Nusser in third.

Huffman Picks Up SportMod Victory

The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods main event featured a front row of Warren Huffman and Alex Wiens. Huffman surged to an early lead and seemed to be in command until a late caution with four laps to go bunched the field back up.

On the restart, Huffman powered back out front and was untouched the rest of the way. He picked up his first win of the 2025 campaign, with his previous best a runner-up finish at Salina on May 10. Wiens finished second and Austin Aumiller took third.

Williams Grabs Another Hobby Win

The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock main event rolled to green with Billy McBride and Cody Williams on the front row. Williams and McBride battled side-by-side on the opening lap before Williams cleared for the top spot on lap two.

Gage Hubbard made a strong charge through the field at the halfway point but saw his night end early after catching the backstretch wall with the right side of his car. Thankfully, he avoided a rollover. Williams led the field back to green with two laps remaining and cruised to his fifth win of the season in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region — also marking his 105th career IMCA victory.

McBride, nursing a sour engine, held on for second, while Garrit Caswell claimed third.

Reimer Holds Off Miller in Stock Car Action

The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature began with Mike Petersilie and Jayce Reimer on the front row. Trouble struck early when Petersilie got loose in turn three on the opening lap, collecting several cars in the process. All drivers were able to continue after fixing flat tires and pulling sheet metal.

Reimer took command on the restart and set the pace. A caution came with 10 laps to go after Ryan Carrey and Kaide Gropp tangled on the backstretch and became hooked together. Reimer again led the field on the restart, with Scott Miller mounting a challenge in the closing laps.

Lapped traffic came into play with three to go. Miller tried the bottom, but Reimer powered off the high side and led the final circuits to earn a popular hometown win — his first of the year in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region. Miller was second, followed by Kaleb Dale in third.
