Thompson, Roth are IMCA winners at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa (June 24) – Sunday racing action at Dubuque Speedway provided the fans with a thrilling night of action packed plenty of wheel-to-wheel action on Casey’s General Store Night at the Races.

Derek Thompson found the tacky track to his liking in scoring the 20-lap Merfeld Auto IMCA Modified feature. Thompson led the most laps in taking the checkers ahead of Austin Moyer and Matt Short.

Jason Roth won his second consecutive GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Northern SportMod main event. Roth took the point position after the midway portion of the 18-lap main and went on to cross under the flag stand ahead of Gage Neal and Troy Bauer.

Hurst hoists winner’s trophy at Dubuque

By Rob Hinckley DUBUQUE, Iowa (May 12) – He tried high and low. The latter worked in the end for Jeremiah Hurst. The Dubuque ace slid by early leader Terry Neal after a caution and won the 25-lap Eichman’s Bar and Grill IMCA Late Model season opener Sunday evening at Dubuque Speedway. “They (his crew) were down at the turn waving me to stay low and it worked,” the defending national champion said from Hoker Trucking Victory Lane. “The car was great. The track was great. It was a special night.” The track, under new promoter Trackside Promotions, finally got the opener on the fifth try due to bad weather through April and first weekend of May. $1,000 top check, All-Star berth for IMCA Modifieds at stake July 4 at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa – A $1,000 to win, Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event for IMCA Modifieds is now scheduled this Sunday at Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway. IMCA Sunoco Late Models, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks are also on the July 4 ticket and all divisions will be draw/redraw. The Fast-Shafts qualifying event for Modifieds was rained out and rescheduled from last Sunday. Pit gates and the grandstand open at 4 p.m. Hot laps are at 6 p.m. with racing to follow. Pit passes are $30 or $15 for kids ages 7-13 and free for six and under. Spectator admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors ages 65 and up, $6 for student ages 13-17 and free for kids 12 and under accompanying a paid adult. Fair races on July 28 and Aug. 1 also pay the Modifieds $1,000 to win.

Three Key City Challenge dates at Dubuque for IMCA Late Models

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Feb. 6, 2024) – IMCA Sunoco Late Models will have three opportunities to take home $2,500 this season in Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway’s Key City Challenge. Late Model features on Sundays, April 28, June 23 and Aug. 18 all tote big checks for drivers pre-registered by April 28. “This was an idea one of our Late Model drivers, Luke Merfeld, had. He wanted to help promote our track and the sport of racing. Luke contacted and recruited sponsors to make this series possible. McBirnie Charges From 12th to Capture Boone Modified Feature

By Jane Burd BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 15, 2026) — Jake McBirnie charged from 12th starting and emerged from a slider-filled battle with Owen Barnhill to capture the Karl Kustoms IMCA Modified feature Saturday night at Boone Speedway. Griffin Taylor grabbed the early advantage before losing power on lap four as a caution waved for a separate incident. Owen Barnhill inherited the lead for the restart and remained strong out front following another yellow. McBirnie, meanwhile, was steadily working his way through the field from the sixth row. The Boone driver eventually caught Barnhill, and the two went side-by-side while exchanging sliders for the top spot. Their battle continued until lap 17, when Barnhill got loose exiting turn two and McBirnie powered ahead. Bolac Blasts Off at the Bridge for First Win of 2026

(Aug. 15, 2026) — Daren Bolac, the “Moyock Missile,” blasted off from the front row and never looked back Saturday night, capturing his first RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car victory of the season with the Virginia Sprint Series at Natural Bridge Speedway. Rain delayed the program and, with a curfew looming, the evening was turned into a feature-only event. Caleb Harris and Bolac paced the field to green for the 20-lap main event, with Bolac immediately jumping out front on the sticky, fast racing surface. Harris settled into second while Cole Dewease quickly began applying pressure for the position. Matthew Leach and Jerald Harris followed closely as the field clicked off laps at a rapid pace. Addison Charges From Seventh for SportMod Victory at Rooks County

(Aug. 15, 2026) — Justin Addison charged from seventh starting to capture the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern SportMod feature Saturday night at Rooks County Speedway, working his way through a competitive battle at the front before taking command on the Stockton third-mile. Blaine Walt and Tracy Holloway battled for the early lead, and their fight at the front allowed Addison and Tyler Watts to close the gap. Addison continued his march forward from the seventh starting position and eventually worked his way into the lead. Once there, he began to distance himself from the competition and drove away with his fourth feature victory of the season.
