Thompson, Roth are IMCA winners at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa (June 24) – Sunday racing action at Dubuque Speedway provided the fans with a thrilling night of action packed plenty of wheel-to-wheel action on Casey’s General Store Night at the Races.

Derek Thompson found the tacky track to his liking in scoring the 20-lap Merfeld Auto IMCA Modified feature. Thompson led the most laps in taking the checkers ahead of Austin Moyer and Matt Short.

Jason Roth won his second consecutive GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Northern SportMod main event. Roth took the point position after the midway portion of the 18-lap main and went on to cross under the flag stand ahead of Gage Neal and Troy Bauer.

$250 Sunoco bonus at stake Sunday for IMCA Late Models at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa (May 29, 2024) – IMCA Late Model drivers get their next chance to race for a $250 bonus from divisional title sponsor Sunoco Race Fuels this Sunday at Dubuque Fairgrounds Speedway. Sunoco also gives a five gallon fuel jug to the bonus winner. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods complete the sanctioned portion of the June 2 race program. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, regional, Iowa State and track points will be awarded. Pit gates open at 4 p.m., the grandstand opens at 4:30 p.m. and racing follows 6 p.m. hot laps. Pit passes are $30 for adults, $15 for kids ages 7-13 and free for six and under. Spectator admission is $13 for adults, $10 for seniors ages 65 and over, $6 for students ages 12-17 and free for kids ages 11 and under when accompanying a paid adult.

Garnhart speeds to Smokey Rupp Memorial win

The defending track champion put the pedal down on the restart and cruised to the 25-lap Smokey Rupp Memorial Merfeld Brothers IMCA Modified win Sunday at Dubuque Speedway. The $1,000 victory put him on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. “I know it was bad for him, but it made me happy,” Garnhart said in Hoker Trucking / C&W Trucking/Kam Koncepts Victory Circle. “Car ran great and I can’t thank everyone enough that works on this and supports us.” Hometown driver Austin Moyer helped lead the field to John Ryan’s green flag and quickly opened a large advantage. Hurst reigns at Dubuque

Jeremiah Hurst has won many, but the season championship at his hometown Dubuque Speedway is always special. Hurst started eighth but made his run to the front quick, taking the point for good on lap five and won the Eichman’s Bar & Grill IMCA Late Model 25-lapper Sunday evening at Dubuque Speedway. “It’s always special to win here,” Hurst said. “We’ll just keep winning. The finale had to go to overdrive/overtime as runner-up Joel Callahan slammed the turn two wall and finally stopped on turn four as the white flag was ready to fly. STIMS Rebrands and Expands Points Fund for 2026 Campaign
