Trenchard triumphs at Haudenshild Tribute

WHITE CITY, Ore. (June 2) – After taking the lead from Preston Jones early in the race, Nick Trench­ard went on to victory in the 25-lap IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Southern Ore­gon Speedway.
This was the sixth annual Roger Haudenshild Tribute race and the win paid $2,000 to Trenchard, new to the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. It was also his third win in the big event.
Jones paced just one lap before Trenchard made an outside pass to gain the lead. On the third lap, Albert Gill took second and Duane Orsburn made his way to third.
By then, Trenchard was a straightaway in the lead, leaving behind him a good battle between Gill and Orsburn for second. Trenchard was working lapped traffic and in command when the caution flew on lap 11. Orsburn worked his way to second following the second restart.
Trenchard set a rapid pace and soon had a straightaway advantage. The man making the charge was Dave Duste Jr., who had fifth on the last restart and took fourth from Jones on lap 17.
Orsburn did a good job of handling the pressure in the battle for second, but Gill made a low pass on lap 22 to regain the position. Trenchard was never seriously threatened in posting an impres­sive victory.
Gill was a strong second and Orsburn spun on the final lap as he was battling Duste for third. Duste claimed the third position, followed by Zach Fettinger and Jones.
Trenchard added $200 to his total by winning the special 11-lap Crack The Whip race.
Fred Ryland was the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature winner. Justin McCreadie topped Crack The Whip.
Additional purse money was sponsored by the Haudenshild Family and Dusty’s Transmissions of Central Point.

Braaten Banks $6,069 in SportMod Smackdown Win at Southern Oregon

(May 31, 2025) — Central Point’s Jorddon Braaten showcased his prowess by leading all 69 laps of the rebranded SportMod Smackdown at Southern Oregon Speedway, securing a commanding victory and a $6,069 prize in one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier IMCA SportMod events. Formerly known as the Dwayne Melvin Clash, the 69-lap feature attracted top competitors, with Braaten — a four-time Oregon State and Southern Oregon Speedway track champion — asserting dominance from the outset. The race’s first half was marked by intermittent cautions, but as the event passed lap 31, Braaten encountered lapped traffic. Navigating through it masterfully, he extended his advantage and began to check out from the field. IMCA Modifieds, Northern SportMods spy big paydays at Southern Oregon’s Snyder Salute

MEDFORD, Ore. – IMCA Modified and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod drivers will spy the chance to run for big payouts at Southern Oregon Speedway’s R. Charles Snyder Salute.  Held in honor of the late track announcer and James Bond fan, the fourth annual special sees the Modifieds run for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $100 to start their qualifying feature on Friday, Sept. 3 and for $7,007 to win and a minimum of $707 to start on Saturday.  The Saturday winner becomes eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Shaw Race Cars Western Region, KMJ Performance State and track points will be awarded. Northern SportMods chase a top check of $707 on Friday and $1,007 on Saturday. Bailey impresses at Southern Oregon

By Don Martin II  WHITE CITY, Ore. (Aug. 17) – Jesse Bailey scored an impressive win in the 25-lap IMCA Modi­fied feature Saturday at Southern Oregon Speedway. Bailey made an impressive outside groove effort that gained him the lead late in the race.  Not even in the top five with 10 laps left, Bailey began working the higher line before a lap 20 yel­low flag bunched the field. On the restart, Bailey was making his a bid to move into second as another yellow flag flew.  Andy Freeman led Bailey and Jeremy Richey on the ensuing restart. Bailey made a high pass in turn four of the 24th lap to finally get the lead and eventual victory. Jorddon Braaten won the 20-lap Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod feature from the 10th starting spot.
