Trenchard triumphs at Haudenshild Tribute

WHITE CITY, Ore. (June 2) – After taking the lead from Preston Jones early in the race, Nick Trench­ard went on to victory in the 25-lap IMCA Modified main event Saturday at Southern Ore­gon Speedway.
This was the sixth annual Roger Haudenshild Tribute race and the win paid $2,000 to Trenchard, new to the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. It was also his third win in the big event.
Jones paced just one lap before Trenchard made an outside pass to gain the lead. On the third lap, Albert Gill took second and Duane Orsburn made his way to third.
By then, Trenchard was a straightaway in the lead, leaving behind him a good battle between Gill and Orsburn for second. Trenchard was working lapped traffic and in command when the caution flew on lap 11. Orsburn worked his way to second following the second restart.
Trenchard set a rapid pace and soon had a straightaway advantage. The man making the charge was Dave Duste Jr., who had fifth on the last restart and took fourth from Jones on lap 17.
Orsburn did a good job of handling the pressure in the battle for second, but Gill made a low pass on lap 22 to regain the position. Trenchard was never seriously threatened in posting an impres­sive victory.
Gill was a strong second and Orsburn spun on the final lap as he was battling Duste for third. Duste claimed the third position, followed by Zach Fettinger and Jones.
Trenchard added $200 to his total by winning the special 11-lap Crack The Whip race.
Fred Ryland was the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature winner. Justin McCreadie topped Crack The Whip.
Additional purse money was sponsored by the Haudenshild Family and Dusty’s Transmissions of Central Point.

Haudenshild Tribute IMCA Modified win is ‘something special’ for DeBenedetti

By Stephanie Deatherage  WHITE CITY, Ore. (June 12) – An IMCA Modified driver who’s won a lot of big races in his career won one he described as “something special” Saturday night. Jon DeBenedetti was in and out of the lead before taking the $2,000 checkers at Southern Oregon Speedway’s eighth annual Roger Haudenshild Tribute. The new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier had put an engine purchased out of a car that Haudenshild had sponsored into his own ride just the day before.  “We put it in Friday and won with it on Saturday. That was pretty cool,” DeBenedetti said. “I told (the previous owner) I’d buy it and win with it and that’s exactly what I did.” He’d started third in the 30-lapper and fell back to fifth before running the inside line back to second, behind Zach Fettinger. Hudson, Sanders win IMCA openers at Southern Oregon

(May 4) – Jeffrey Hudson and Matt Sanders opened the 2019 season with IMCA feature wins Saturday at Southern Oregon Speedway.  Hudson, the 2018 sprint car runner-up, landed a full-time ride in an IMCA Modified for this sea­son. He took the lead from rookie Justin Foux early on and held off the rapidly approaching Mark Wauge for the win. The last 16 laps went without a yellow flag and Hudson had a good lead, but Wauge slowly be­gan to chip away at the advantage. The laps ran out, however, before Wauge could get close enough to attempt a pass. Sanders beat race long leader Justin McCreadie back to the line in a photo finish to win the 20 lap Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod main, contested by 21 drivers. IMCA Modified winner takes home $7,007 from Southern Oregon Speedway’s Snyder Salute

MEDFORD, Ore. (June 27, 2022) – Southern Oregon Speedway pays tribute to late track announcer and James Bond fan R. Charles Snyder with a $7,007 to win special for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds July 2 and 3. The fifth annual R. Charles Snyder Salute sees Modifieds run two heats and race for $1,500 to win and a minimum of $150 to start their Saturday night qualifying feature. Ten cars advance from that race; last-chance races and the main event are on Sunday. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Shaw Race Cars Western Region and KMJ Performance Oregon State points will be awarded on day two. Pit gates at Medford open at 1 p.m., the grandstand opens at 5 p.m., hot laps are at 6 p.m. and racing is at 7 p.m. both days. Pit passes are $40 or $20 for kids 12 and under.
