FORT DODGE, Iowa (Dec. 5, 2025) — Sports Park Raceway has announced a major step forward for the 2026 season, confirming that the facility will operate under Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing sanctioning beginning next year while shifting its weekly program to Sunday nights.
The track’s 2026 IMCA lineup will feature Sunoco IMCA Late Models, Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks, and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts.
Owner and promoter Jeff Frevert said the decision aligns with the track’s long-term goals for growth, stability, and consistency.
“We believe it’s time to grow,” said Frevert, “and with IMCA’s strong consistent support and a move to Sunday nights, we’re confident this step will help Sports Park Raceway continue to thrive for years to come.”
The track previously sanctioned IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Northern SportMods, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Compacts, and IMCA Hobby Stocks in 2018–19.
Operations manager Sarah Stewart echoed that excitement, noting both personal experience and the benefits for competitors and fans.
“As someone who has previously raced under IMCA sanctioning, I’m really excited for this change. It’s a great step forward for our drivers, our fans, and the future of Sports Park Raceway.”
With the shift to Sundays, Sports Park Raceway will implement an earlier 5 p.m. start time to deliver a fast-paced, efficient weekly program. The schedule change is expected to reduce conflicts with other racing and entertainment options while making travel easier for drivers and families. Track officials anticipate the move will bring additional competitors and fans through the gates each week.

Extensive improvement work is also underway, including a project to shorten and narrow the racing surface. The updated configuration is designed to promote tighter competition, encourage more side-by-side action, and significantly reduce heavy prep work throughout the year.
Frevert added, “We’re really excited about the improvements we’re making. The changes will make the racing even more competitive and exciting for the fans, and more manageable for our dedicated staff. The 2026 race season is shaping up to be a big year for Sports Park Raceway.”
Track prep manager Brandon Toftee agreed.
“With switching to IMCA, many local drivers and fans will return, and changes to the track will produce extremely exciting racing.”
Fans and teams are encouraged to follow Sports Park Raceway online for construction updates, schedule announcements, and additional 2026 details as preparations continue for IMCA Sunday Nights at Sports Park Raceway.
