ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 21, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature at Kossuth County Speedway for the Jade Lange Memorial brought 17 cars to the track, with pole sitter Kelly Shryock showing once again why he’s been the class of the field all year.
Shryock jumped out front at the start and controlled the pace until a lap-12 yellow slowed things. After a complete restart, cautions for Mike Albertsen’s spin and a small fire under Colby Fett’s hood briefly delayed the action, but none of it rattled Shryock.
He powered away to his eighth victory of the year at Kossuth County Speedway, and his 19th in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region for 2025. Kevin Opheim was runner-up, followed by Chad Palmer, Devin Tripp, and Calvin Lange. Tripp picked up the hard charger honors, improving seven positions.
Shryock’s season dominance also locked down the track championship with a commanding 62-point margin.
Nielsen Scores Hobby Stock Finale; Sidles Seals Title
Point leader Josh Sidles led the 17-car B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Hobby Stock field to green, but it was outside front row starter Brandon Nielsen who powered into the early lead.
A string of cautions on laps two and three shook up the running order, including a fire that sidelined Grant Haugland. Once the race settled in, Nielsen built a comfortable margin, weaving through lapped traffic with ease.
He claimed his fourth win at Algona this year, and his eighth overall in the Northern Region, half of them coming at Kossuth County. Dan Hanselman battled past Sidles late to take second, while Sidles held on for third, good enough to clinch the track championship by 28 points.
Corbin White was fourth and Chris Krug charged from 16th to fifth for hard charger honors.
Fett Nips Stevens in SportMod Thriller; Simpson the Champion
The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod main event provided the closest finish of the night. Charlie Stevens led the first 13 laps before a spin by Bailey Stimson set up a dramatic dash to the checkers.
Alec Fett, who had been pressuring Stevens all race, made his move and edged him at the line to collect his fourth feature win of the summer at Algona, his seventh overall in 2025.
Stevens finished a close second, with Randy Winter third, Jackson Carey fourth, and Jake Simpson fifth. Simpson’s steady drive also earned him the hard charger title, and more importantly, the 2025 track championship by just five points over Stevens.
Mills Rolls to Modified Win; Shryock Grabs Championship
The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds brought nine cars to Algona, with Nick Meyer leading the opening laps. But on lap five, Jeremy Mills took over and was never challenged, stretching out his advantage before a red flag for Braden Claborn’s rollover slowed things with two laps to go.
Mills went on to claim his fifth win at Algona this year and his 13th overall in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. Meyer held on for second, Shryock added a third to his night, and Chaz Baca was fourth and the hard charger, improving four spots.
With his finish, Shryock clinched the Modified track championship by six points over Meyer.
Fitzgerald Outruns Field in Sport Compacts; Osler Crowned Champion
The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts wrapped up the night with just six cars taking the green. Charles Prime set the early pace before Slade Fitzgerald found his rhythm and took over on lap three.
Once in clean air, Fitzgerald checked out on the field, claiming his fourth win at Algona this summer, his sixth overall in 2025. Prime finished second with Brooke Osler third.
Fitzgerald also gained three positions for hard charger honors. Osler, however, had the consistency all season and secured the track championship by 15 points over Prime.
