COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2025) — Season Championship Night at CJ Speedway also featured completion of the Larry Richardson Memorial features, postponed from July 24 during the Louisa County Fair. Those memorial races were run first, followed by the night’s championship events.

In the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Logan Anderson recorded a clean sweep, winning both the Larry Richardson Memorial and Season Championship features. Kurt Kile chased Anderson to the checkers in the first main, with Dan Brockert finishing third.

In the Season Championship feature, Anderson again took the win, this time ahead of Scott Brau. Kile broke early in the championship race but had built enough of a points cushion to win the track title by just one point over Anderson.

Oliver Jr. and Wells Split Stock Car Victories

In the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, John Oliver Jr. dominated the Larry Richardson Memorial feature, leading the event flag-to-flag. Damon Murty took over second late but was unable to close on the leader.

The Season Championship Stock Car feature saw Keegan Wells ride the extreme top side of the speedway to the win. That race was red flagged with three laps to go when second-place runner Dustin Griffiths slipped off the high side of turns three and four and rolled violently. Griffiths was uninjured in the scary incident. Wells went on to record the win ahead of Shane Richardson and Oliver Jr. Oliver was crowned the repeat champion in the highly competitive Stock Car class.

Van Wyk Caps SportMod Season with Double Win and Bounty

The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod division has been dominated by Dylan Van Wyk in 2025, and the “Lil Speedster” from Oskaloosa put an exclamation point on a stellar season Friday night. Van Wyk won the first main by quickly getting to the front and pulling away from Sean Wyett.

In the second feature, Van Wyk charged from a fifth-row start to collect his second checkered flag of the night. Along with earning the track championship, Van Wyk also claimed the $650 bounty placed on himself.

Stanford Surges Late to Win Hobby Stock Championship Feature

The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock Larry Richardson Memorial saw young Kale Hemsley drive his mount to victory, but he was later docked two positions for failing to meet the ride height requirements. The official finishing order for the first main credited Jason Schutterle with the win ahead of Preston McDonald.

The Season Championship feature appeared to belong to Tucker Richardson, but late in the race Billy Stanford closed in and made the winning pass as the leaders took the white flag. Stanford scored the win ahead of Richardson and McDonald. McDonald secured the track championship with a pair of top-three finishes on the night.
