MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Aug. 2, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Late Models at Maquoketa Speedway saw front row starter Doug Nigh and 10th-starting Evan Miller swap the lead several times throughout the 25-lap feature. As the laps wound down with the two still battling for the top spot, a late race caution set up a three-lap dash to the finish. The lead pack behind Nigh was scrambled, and Logan Veloz made a last-minute charge to finish right on the heels of Nigh.
Nigh scored his first win of the season, while Miller held on for third ahead of Bryce Garnhart.
Schueller Goes Flag-to-Flag for First Maquoketa Modified Victory
The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds saw a strong field of 18 drivers take the green flag for their 20-lap feature. Jason Schueller took the green from the pole and led the main event flag-to-flag.
Schueller’s win was far from easy as he was pressured early by fellow front row starter Brandon Jewell, and late in the race, Shane Paris closed the gap and settled for second at the finish line ahead of Jed Freiburger.
The win marked Schueller’s second victory of the 2025 season in the Razor Chassis North Central Region, and his first at Maquoketa this year.
Brandies Banks Stock Car Win From the Pole
A very strong field of 26 drivers took the initial green flag in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars. David Brandies started on the pole and never relinquished the top spot, though several drivers took their turns challenging the quick-running car.
Gage Neal charged forward from the sixth row and pressured Brandies late in the race, but settled for a close second ahead of Kodey Miles.
The victory was Brandies’ first triumph of the season in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region.
Franzen Scores 10th SportMod Win of 2025 With Another Maquoketa Triumph
The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods saw a stellar field of 28 drivers take the green in their 15-lap feature. Tyler Soppe led early as Jacob Arp ran a strong second. While the leaders were racing side-by-side, Jarrett Franzen was making his way forward from 10th.
Franzen took the lead just past the halfway mark and drove to the checkers to strengthen his point lead in the class with his 10th win of the season and fourth at Maquoketa in 2025. Soppe crossed the line in second ahead of Arp.
Vohringer Survives Wild Hobby Stock Feature for Fourth Win at Home Track
The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks took the green with 25 drivers making the initial start. Brandon White was scored as the lap one leader before a caution flew. On the restart, a front runner blew his engine, sending several cars spinning in fluid. White was turned and sent off the back chute in a violent series of rollovers.
White immediately jumped from his car uninjured, but the machine was extensively damaged. The feature restarted with several drivers exchanging the lead, but the night belonged to hometown driver Kile Vohringer.
Vohringer piloted his mount to the win over Karter Miles and Daniel Wauters. It marked his fourth win in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region, with all four coming at Maquoketa in 2025.
