COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (July 30, 2025) — Kevin Williamson dominated Wednesday night’s 25-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature at Cottage Grove Speedway, becoming the third different winner in as many rounds of the 2025 Midweek Mayhem Series. Piloting the Superior Fuel Cells-backed no. 42, the Coburg racer scored his second victory of the season at CGS and in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region.
Williamson grabbed the lead on the opening start and quickly separated himself from the rest of the field. He encountered light lapped traffic on lap eight but didn’t skip a beat as he built a commanding advantage. Things got interesting late as heavier traffic came into play with just three laps to go, but the five-time and reigning track champion Jake Mayden, wheeling the Dustin Brooks-owned no. 5M, couldn’t close the gap. Jesse Williamson, a multi-time IMCA Wild West Speedweek champion and older brother to the winner, finished third aboard the SDMF Customs no. W5 house car.
Ashley Keeps SportMod Streak Alive at CGS
Ricky Ashley continued his Midweek Mayhem hot streak in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, picking up his third series win of 2025 — all at Cottage Grove. The Thurston driver, piloting the T.R. Points Trucking-owned no. 1185, took the lead on lap one and never looked back despite multiple cautions throughout the 25-lap contest.
A trio of cautions came out from laps nine to 16, but each time Ashley nailed the restart and rebuilt his advantage. A green-white-checkered finish brought one final challenge, but Ashley held steady and secured the win. 2023 Oregon State champion Trevor Points crossed the line in second, followed by Jason Kocks in third.
Bryant Blisters Compact Field in Daughter’s Car
Reigning Midweek Mayhem and Oregon State champion Burnie Bryant returned to form in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts, putting on a clinic in a nonstop 20-lap main event. Driving his daughter Melissa’s car, the Sutherlin standout jumped to the lead early and was never threatened en route to his third Midweek Mayhem win of the season and sixth overall in 2025.
The battle for second was intense as Charles Trissell and Melissa Bryant traded the spot multiple times, but Trissell edged the Lady Eagle competitor at the line to secure runner-up honors.
The Midweek Mayhem event was broadcast live on IMCA TV affiliate Dirt Oval TV. Missed the action? Catch every lap on demand with an IMCA TV Replay Subscription—available now for just $24.99/month. Plus, don’t miss Season 2 of The Boone Docuseries, now streaming exclusively on IMCA TV.
