COLBY, Kan. (Jun. 28, 2025) — The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds headlined the Saturday night program at Thomas County Speedway, with Danny Keller and John Burrow setting the pace on the front row. Burrow jumped to the early lead but quickly came under fire from Dylan Sherfick and Kyle Rohleder, two of the fastest Modified shoes in the state.

The trio battled tightly for the top spot until a caution flew on lap four for a spin by Eddie Belec. Rohleder led the field back to green, but Clay Money had other plans. Charging up from deeper in the pack, Money powered to the lead by lap seven and began pulling away as Sherfick and Rohleder fought behind him.

Once clear, Money stretched his advantage and never looked back, scoring his third Jet Racing Central Region win of 2025 and second at Colby. Sherfick finished second, followed by Rohleder in third.

Olmstead Adds to Hobby Stock Win Total

The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature saw Bruce Plumisto and Alicia Hilzer bring the field to the green, with Plumisto taking early control. A quick caution on lap one for a spin in turn two set up a restart, but by lap five, it was Zach Olmstead on the move and into the lead.

Plumisto held strong for several circuits before Brady Bencken worked his way into second. Bencken had speed, but Olmstead was untouchable out front, driving away for his 13th B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region win of the season. Bencken crossed the line second with Plumisto rounding out the podium in third.

Barnhart Stays Perfect in Colby SportMod Action

A front-row start for Josiah Lopez and Monty Nordyke led off the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature, but third-starting Brianna Maughlin launched into the lead early. That advantage was short-lived, as Josh Barnhart made his move on lap three with a strong run down the backstretch.

After a spin by Ace Plummer slowed the field, Barnhart fired off well on the restart and took command once again. One more caution on lap five bunched the field, but Barnhart remained composed, checked out late, and kept his perfect record intact at Thomas County. Kam Gruber made a late charge to take second, with Ryan Kirchoff in third.

Pfeifer Powers to Stock Car Victory

The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main brought Cody Ghumm and Johnny Yutterman to the front row, but it was Doug Holzmeister forcing the issue three-wide on lap one to grab the early lead.

Holzmeister and Yutterman dueled for several circuits while Kyle Pfeifer lurked just behind. A lap four caution reset the field, and Pfeifer wasted no time making his move—driving by Holzmeister on the high side on lap eight to take over.

From there, Pfeifer controlled the pace and cruised to his second EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the year, adding to his previous triumph in Hays. Holzmeister held off late pressure for second, with Johnny Yutterman settling for third.

Leibhart Outduels Mortensen in Sport Compact Thriller

Brock Leibhart and Blake Fladgard led the way in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature, but it was Leibhart and Kyle Mortensen who stole the show.

Leibhart grabbed the early lead and kept Mortensen at bay through multiple challenges. Mortensen stayed close and pulled alongside more than once, setting up a side-by-side drag race to the checkered flag.

At the stripe, Leibhart held on by inches to earn his first win of the season. Mortensen was a close second, while Fladgard claimed third.
